Hey friends!

Admin Fossa here as a reminder that Lakeport Fire is hosting our first ever open house on Saturday from 10:00AM-1:00PM and it would be rad if you could come!

We’re going to have a bounce house, some fun challenges for kiddos, cute photo ops, and displays on the history of the department, who we are, and what our mission is. There will be station tours, kids (and adults!) will have a chance to sit in a real fire truck and check out our other vehicles and rescue equipment. You’ll even get to meet our sweet agency K9, Maya, and learn about how she supports our crew and other local agencies. She’s one of the best coworkers I’ve ever had!

This event is going to be a blast and I really hope to see all your friendly faces there! Free hotdog lunch provided by the Lakeport Volunteer Firefighters Association!

Pic of Maya telling me I needed to give her love because I was stressed and ITS HER JOB TO HELP GOSH DARNIT!

This morning, members, family and friends of the Lakeport Fire Protection District paid tribute to the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice 25 years ago today. Members started the morning by having a moment of silence for the tragic events that day. Firefighters then climbed 110 stories at the lake county courthouse to honor the 343 fireman who lost their lives that day when the twin towers collapsed. Thank you to all that came out and gave support this morning!

The Lakeport Volunteer Firefighter's Association recently hosted the 5th Annual Lakeside Fire Conference. This years conference was taught by Horton and Hunt from Carson City Nevada. Firefighters spent 2 days learning and refreshing on searching and forceable entry. Thank you to all that made this possible, including Skylark Shores Resort, Lakeport Fire Protection District, Casey Dye, Kevin Smith and Billy Lunas.

Duckling Rescue This Morning!

Chief Reitz was en route to Station 50 when he noticed a female duck lingering near a storm drain. Trusting his instincts, he stopped to take a closer look—and sure enough, several ducklings had fallen through the sewer grate and were trapped below.

Firefighters Sean Thomas and Aric Abrams responded, carefully removed the grate, and retrieved each duckling. Once all of the little ones were accounted for, they were reunited with their very relieved mother and safely sent on their way.

A big thank you to our crew for taking the time to help some of our smallest community members, and to Chief Reitz for spotting the situation before it became a tragedy.

Today’s call was a great reminder that public service comes in all shapes and sizes—even the feathered kind. ❤️🚒🦆

Behind the mask, we're still the same friendly faces!

In an emergency, our gear can look a little bit like a space suit and sound a bit scary. Today, Firefighter Akbari suited up for our young visitors to show them that there is always a friend underneath the helmet.

Making sure our community’s kids feel safe and comfortable around us is one of the most important parts of our job!

We are so appreciative of Sentator McGuire’s contribution!

PRESS CONFERENCE
YOU’RE INVITED

Tomorrow, Friday, May 1st, 12:00 noon, Senator Mike McGuire will be at Lakeport Fire Station for a press conference announcing critical funding awards for Lakeport Fire.

We’re proud to share that Lakeport Fire has been awarded over $800,000 to support the refurbishment of our ladder truck, an investment that directly strengthens our ability to serve and protect our community and our neighboring agencies.

Fire Chiefs and personnel from across the County will be in attendance, and we invite the public to join us for this informative event.

It’s a great opportunity to connect, learn more about what this funding means for our region, and show appreciation for the continued support of fire services.

Refreshments will be provided

We’re grateful for the strong community and countywide support that makes progress like this possible.

Please share and we hope to see you, your family, and friends there.
