The U.S. Small Business Administration is reminding small businesses and private nonprofit organizations in Washington that there is a Nov. 24 deadline to apply for low interest federal disaster loans to offset economic losses caused by the 2025 Severe Winter Storms occurring Dec. 5 – 22, 2025. The disaster declaration covers the Washington counties of Chelan, Cowlitz, Grays Harbor, Island, King, Kitsap, Kittitas, Lewis, Okanogan, Pacific, Pierce, Skagit, Skamania, Snohomish, Thurston, Wahkiakum, Whatcom, and Yakima. Under this declaration, SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program is available to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, and private nonprofit organizations — including faith-based organizations — impacted by financial losses directly related to the disaster.

The loan amount can be up to $2 million with interest rates as low as 4% for small businesses and 3.625% for private nonprofit organizations, with terms up to 30 years. Interest does not accrue, and payments are not due until 12 months from the date of the first loan disbursement. The SBA determines eligibility and sets loan amounts and terms based on each applicant’s financial condition.

To apply online, visit https://www.sba.gov/disaster/. Applicants may also call SBA’s National Support Network Center at (866) SBA-HELP or email [email protected] for more information on disaster assistance.

These levees are going to help flooding issues. A great mitigation project.

Your relationship might be over, and ShakeOut might be over, but earthquake preparedness shouldn't be. 💔 ShakeOut can be ANY day! Practice Drop, Cover, and Hold On before the next earthquake.👉 It's not too late to sign up!

Let us know you practiced or plan to practice at https://www.shakeout.org/washington/

Video Description: Woman is sitting at a picnic table in a sunny park. She is scrolling on her phone while a man’s voice explains to her that their three-year relationship isn’t working, is over, AND they will have to separate their two cats. Text on the screen reads “POV: You’re breaking up with me, but I forgot to sign up for the Great Washington ShakeOut earthquake and tsunami drill..” She appears distracted and feigns disappointment as the man explains how they’ve grown apart. The page goes black and reads “It may be too late for your relationship... but it's not too late to sign up for ShakeOut.” While the man continues on talking the video transitions to a link and text "Sign up at shakeout.org/washington" with the WA EMD and Shakeout logos.

Lots of great advice in these graphics.
