CommonSpirit - Flight for Life Flight for Life is the nation’s first and one of the most accomplished critical care transport programs. Proudly part of CommonSpirit Health.

Centura Health's Flight For Life was the first hospital based emergency medical helicopter program of its kind. Our maiden voyage, flown to a life-threatening automobile accident in the mountains on October 12, 1972, formed the prototype for all other hospital based flight programs. Forty years and over 90,000 flights later, more than 300 flight programs around the country and around the world have been modeled on this concept. Flight For Life is a program designed to provide an efficient and immediate response system to the critically ill and injured within the Denver metropolitan area, the State of Colorado, and the Rocky Mountain region. As a valuable lifesaving supplement to any community's emergency medical service system, Flight For Life is available by request from any physician, hospital, clinic, public safety agency, paramedic/EMT, or any trained persons responsible for obtaining the service. Never considering a patient's ability to pay, Flight For Life is able to respond within minutes of receiving a call. Responding to a scene or to a medical facility, Flight For Life's Flight Nurses and Paramedics are able to provide critical care to those in need of service.

For more than five decades, Flight for Life has answered the call when patients need critical care and rapid transport. Yesterday, our entire team came together for our annual Blessing of the Crew Members and Fleet - honoring the people, vehicles, and purpose behind every mission.

We are grateful for every crew member who serves, every family who supports them, every patient who trusts us, and every community that welcomes us.

As Dr. Erik Adler shared, "May these aircrafts and vehicles carry us safely to those who need us, may they always bring us home securely, and may we never forget what it means when that call comes. We are Flight for Life, and that is something to be proud of."

It has been a profoundly difficult time for the air medical transport community, with two tragedies involving REACH Air Medical Services and Latitude Air Ambulance.

Our thoughts are with the families, loved ones, friends, and colleagues affected. These courageous crews dedicated themselves to caring for patients at their most vulnerable moments, demonstrating unwavering commitment and compassion each day. Flight for Life honors their service and stands with everyone during this difficult time.

One life saved, and one career inspired. In 2009, 7-year-old Drew Harris suffered a traumatic brain injury while on a family camping trip in Colorado. His condition was critical, and his family feared the worst.

Flight for Life medics brought critical care when Drew needed it most, and years later, Drew’s remarkable recovery still inspires his brother Sean. After witnessing the emergency response surrounding his brother’s injury, Sean found his calling.

Today, he serves as a Flight for Life paramedic, helping provide the same lifesaving care that once helped his own family. “It’s not just a job,” their dad, Rob Harris, says. “You do what you have to do to save a life. We can never thank them enough for what they did.” Read the full story. https://ow.ly/uyYI50ZONr4
