We are proud to celebrate an exciting milestone for our Ocean Academy Charter High School sophomores enrolled in Spanish II! Today, our students took an important step toward their postsecondary futures by completing their first college application, enrolling in a course through Ocean County College (OCC), and submitting their first scholarship application for the Early College Foundation Grant — all as 10th graders!

Starting college early gives students the opportunity to experience college-level coursework, build confidence, strengthen their college readiness, and potentially earn college credits before high school graduation. Depending on the program and available funding, early college opportunities may also help reduce future college expenses and make the transition to higher education smoother.

We are excited to see our students taking initiative, exploring new opportunities, and investing in their futures. This is what college and career readiness looks like in action! Congratulations to our sophomores! The future is bright, and we're just getting started! ⚓

Our fourth and fifth graders enjoyed a special treat at Ocean County College, where they experienced the vibrant sounds and lively rhythms of a mariachi performance! The wonderful music, paired with dynamic computer-generated backgrounds, made for an exciting, colorful, and memorable experience for our students.

Today 7th Graders had a special presentation regarding "Drugs" presented by the Ocean County Health Department. Unfortunately, Drug abuse has grown rapidly in Ocean County. Educating seventh-grade students about drug abuse is imperative because early adolescence is a critical time to build the knowledge, judgment, and decision-making skills that can protect young people from substance use before harmful behaviors begin. This interactive program discusses alcohol, ma*****na, and va**ng in a way that best meets the needs of the students. Today's goal was to increase students' education about alcohol, to increase students' knowledge about ma*****na, and to change perceptions about drug abuse in Ocean County. Thank you, Ocean County Health Department! Ocean County Health Department

High School: GANG AWARENESS PRESENTATION
On October 13, 2026, Ocean Academy Charter High
School welcomed Edwin Torres, Senior Criminal
Intelligence Officer with the New Jersey State Commission of Investigation, for an important gang awareness presentation. With more than 35 years of law enforcement experience, Agent Torres shared valuable insight into the importance of making positive choices and understanding that every choice has a consequence, even at a young age.
Students were encouraged to think critically about their decisions, recognize the potential risks associated with negative influences, and understand how the choices they make today can impact their future.
This presentation reinforced OACS's commitment to helping students make responsible decisions, stay focused on their goals, and build a successful future. Remember, your choices today help shape your tomorrow!
