Our client Mikaden, along with his employer Woodland by Bonaventure, were honored recently as part of a celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). They were nominated by our team at Centerforce in a recognition ceremony of Mason and Thurston employers, employees and employment agencies/professionals for their outstanding commitment to employment for all. For nearly two years, Helen has been a familiar face at Dollar Tree — keeping the store clean, organized and looking its best, and more recently stepping in as a backup cashier.

"I like interacting with customers and seeing people," Helen says, "and I've made good friends with the staff where I work."

Along the way, Helen worked closely with her Centerforce specialist, Tina, toward a goal she'd been chasing for a while: working in a daycare setting.

That goal recently became a reality. Helen has started a new role at a local daycare, working two to three days a week while continuing at Dollar Tree on Fridays. It's still early days — but it's an exciting new chapter for someone who's always shown up ready to connect with the people around her.

"I just want to be like everyone else. I want to go to work every day, and I want to do something for myself," Helen says.

Shoutout to our partners at Parks Tacoma Eastside Community Center! They shared in a recent customer survey that our caregivers are kind, take time to truly know their clients, and make every visit fun and meaningful.

That's exactly what we strive for!

Our management team at Centerforce recently attended the 2026 APSE (Association Of People Supporting Employment First) Conference. There, we focused on furthering our education in supported employment, learning more through classes and speakers about how to hone in on client skills and offer further support to our clients, while also hearing from clients and their lived experiences. Team work at its finest!

As we kick off National Disability Employment Awareness Month ( ), we're proud to spotlight our client, Philip.

He's been a Centerforce client for over 15 years and a team member at Canyon Crossing Chiropractic for 5 years, where he keeps the office running through facility maintenance and upkeep — organizing, cleaning and tidying work areas so the space looks its best.

Ask Philip what he loves most about the job and he'll tell you right away: shredding papers.

"It gives him the opportunity to get out and do other things and meet new people," owner Dr. Jacob Brown said about how the job has helped Philip build independence.

Voting should be something everyone can do with dignity, independence and confidence. For voters with disabilities, accessible options are what make that possible.

Our state offers real support: accessible voting centers, ballot assistance and accommodations for different needs.

At Centerforce, inclusion doesn't stop at the workplace: it means equal access to civic life too. Disability Rights Washington has a great guide on voting assistance for disabled voters, along with resources for Pierce, south King and Thurston counties.

Huge thanks to The Salvation Army USA for the kind words!

They shared in a recent customer survey that Centerforce communicates well with both clients and staff — and they love the impact we make for adults in our community.

It's why we show up every day!
