The Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office extends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Joseph "Joe" J. Meyers Jr.

Joe was a joy to work alongside—he was a dependable man and a true friend to our department. Through his work with Buildings & Grounds, Joe played a huge part in keeping Ocean County beautiful, but what stood out most to us was the quiet, constant care he took in keeping people safe.

Whenever a fire safety repair was needed in a county building, Joe took action immediately. His dedication behind the scenes protected thousands of employees and visitors every day.

He made our community safer, and he will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, Joe. 🕊️

We sincerely apologize for a misspelling in our Firefighter Graduation book. In the section for the Stanley Marks/Alex Latyshev High Achievement Award, 'Latyshev' was incorrectly printed as 'Letyshev.'

Stanley Marks and Alex Latyshev were honorable members of the Lakewood Fire Department who gave their lives in service to our community, and their memory is held in the highest regard.

This award honors the courage and sacrifice of these two brave firefighters. We are committed ensuring their names are presented with the accuracy and respect they deserve.

🎡🚒 The Ocean County Fire Marshal's Fair Booth will be back for our 2nd Annual Ocean County Fair Scavenger Hunt from Weds, 7/15 - Sun, 7/19!

Thanks to the support of the Ocean County Fair, our completion prize got a little sweeter this year! 🍦🍭

While the scavenger hunt is a lot of fun, its real purpose is to encourage situational awareness: paying attention to your surroundings, the people around you, and where you are. This is especially important in large, busy, and noisy environments like the fair. The scavenger hunt may be a game, but the lesson can last a lifetime.

🔍Stop by the big red Fire Marshal tent to play along and test your observation skills!

We look forward to seeing everyone at the fair!

🚒 The next generation of Ocean County firefighters is underway.

A new Firefighter I & II recruit class began training last night, just days after we celebrated the graduation of 30 new firefighters on June 30th.

Over the next several months, these recruits will complete 300+ hours of classroom instruction and hands-on training as they work toward earning their New Jersey State certifications and preparing to serve their communities.

Thank you to our Fire Marshal instructors for making these training opportunities possible and helping keep Ocean County safe. 🔥🚒
