Today we Read with a Ranger during Friday Story Hour!
We welcomed Ranger Julianna Ellis from the Amache National Historic Site as our special guest! She read the story “Unbreakable” by Minoru Tonai and Jolene Guitierre. Minoru and her family were incarcerated at Amache in Granada, Colorado during WWII after the bombing of Pear Harbor.
After the story we discussed what happened to some of the Japanese families that had been in incarceration camps.
Then we had craft time! One craft was lucky cats and the other was samurai warriors.
Kids then got the choice of a snack or toothbrush because it is dental health month!
Everyone thanked Ranger Julianna for spending time with us and helping us to learn more about the Amache National Historic Site.
