Lancaster Public Library Lancaster Public Library inspires, empowers, and strengthens our community.

As one of the oldest public libraries in the country, Lancaster Public Library has been providing library service in Lancaster for over 260 years. Lancaster Public Library has two locations in the county including the main branch at 151 N. Queen Street in the City of Lancaster and the Mountville Branch at 120 College Avenue in Mountville. Our free public library services include:
»Adult, children, and teen books, periodicals, and audiovisuals from a collection of nearly 200,000 individual items
»Research, business, and historical reference collections
»Research assistance by skilled professional reference librarians
»Educational, recreational, and cultural programs and events for children, teens, adults, and seniors in collaboration community organizations
»Public computers with Internet access, as well as computer instruction for adults
»Online access to databases
»Public meeting rooms for approved community activities
»Quiet research and training areas
»Special language collections

In addition to basic library services, Lancaster Public Library offers special and unique information services to specific groups of individuals in the community like the Business & Reference Center, the World Languages Collection, and the Autism Resource Collection.

📌 Libby Update: passwords required beginning October 7!

Starting tomorrow, patrons will be asked to enter their library card number and password when signing in to Libby and the OverDrive website. This change is part of a new OverDrive requirement designed to provide more secure access to library digital resources.

Your password is the same one you use to check your library card account online. Unless you have changed your password since the catalog upgrade, it defaults to the last 4 digits of your phone number.

Need assistance? No worries! Call your local library or email [email protected].

Then it’s back to borrowing ebooks, audiobooks, and more. 📱✨

🛍️ Deals start at noon, but get there early for the best selection! We have books for children and adults, as well as puzzles (so many puzzles), audiobooks, DVDs, and more!

📍 Find us at The Mountville Church of the Brethren, located at 60 Clay Street in Mountville. It’s right across the street from the library.

🚙 There is plenty of free parking in the church lot, and we accept cash, checks, and credit cards.
