Our Mental Health BHDS case managers swear by this one quick trick... Having Furniture! In our program, housing can become destabilized often. We love recommending the PA Furniture Mission as an alternative to buying furniture because so many of our Individuals are low-income. It's a cyclical process because it takes in furniture and gives it a second life in the homes of people who might not otherwise ba able to afford pieces. Our Individuals pay a flat rate to furnish their new apartments or homes which means less expenses up front. We love programs that help the environment, our people, and local businesses!

We shared yesterday that October is National Physical Therapy Month! Our Early Intervention Physical Therapists help to support a child’s gross motor or big motor development. Motor skills are categorized into two groups: gross motor skills and fine motor skills. Both are needed to reach motor milestones and to support overall baby motor development.

Motor skills are the infant or toddler’s ability to move and use their body. Every time they hold their head up, grab your finger or kick their legs, it helps strengthen the child’s muscles and core. This builds the skills needed for motor milestones like rolling, sitting, crawling, walking, reaching, and grabbing. Every little movement helps!

Check out this resource to learn more about physical milestones and please reach out to Lancaster County Early Intervention if you have concerns about your infant or toddler’s development (717) 209-3354. We are here to help!

October is National Physical Therapy Month! Physical Therapy is one of the developmental services that Lancaster County Early Intervention provides for children birth to age three and their families/caregivers at no cost. Physical Therapy is provided by a licensed Physical Therapist who works with caregivers to help their child with balance, movement, and other activities involving the large muscles of the body. Our EI Physical Therapists assist families to build strong foundations for their child's mobility and physical wellness. Our Early Intervention Physical Therapists travel to wherever the child is during the day or evening to provide support to the child by partnering with and coaching the parent/caregiver to implement various developmental strategies during daily routines and activities.

Thank you to our amazing Early Intervention Physical Therapists!

Do you have concerns about your infant or toddler’s physical development? Consider contacting Lancaster County Early Intervention today! You can call Lancaster County Early Intervention at (717) 209-3354.
