🚨 ARE YOU READY FOR AN EMERGENCY? 🚨 Earthquakes, floods, wildfires, power outages, and other emergencies can happen when we least expect them. While we can't always predict an emergency, we CAN prepare for one!

The good news? Emergency preparedness doesn't have to be overwhelming! A weekend or even a few evenings is all it takes to get started with three simple steps:

🎒 1. GET A KIT: Stock up on essential supplies, including water, nonperishable food, flashlights, batteries, medications, and first aid supplies.

🏠 2. PREPARE YOUR HOME: Identify potential hazards, secure heavy furniture, and know how to safely evacuate or shelter in place.

📋 3. MAKE A PLAN: Talk with your family about emergency contacts, evacuation routes, meeting locations, and how you'll communicate if separated.

📲 STAY INFORMED! Sign up for local emergency alerts through Nixle (text your ZIP code to 888777), download the Genasys Protect app, and make sure you're receiving information from trusted sources.

👮‍♂️ Your Lancaster Sheriff's Station encourages everyone to take a few simple steps to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their neighbors.

We all know Emergency Preparedness is important. But sometimes the ...

Ten years ago today, Lancaster Station lost one of our own. On October 5, 2016, Sergeant Steven C. Owen was killed in the line of duty while responding to a burglary call in Lancaster.

For 29 years, “Bullfrog” served the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the communities of the Antelope Valley. He was a respected supervisor, mentor, partner, and friend whose impact continues to be felt by the men and women who had the privilege of working alongside him.

A decade has passed, but time has not diminished his sacrifice or the legacy he left behind. His name remains a part of Lancaster Station, his example continues through those he influenced, and we remain forever grateful for his service.

Today, we remember Steve, we honor his family, and we reflect on a life dedicated to serving others.

End of Watch: October 5, 2016

Ten years later, we still remember. We always will.
