Today, the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office joins communities across the country in recognizing Purple Thursday as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Purple is more than just a color. It's a symbol of awareness, support, and solidarity with those who have experienced domestic violence.
Throughout October, we're taking time to educate our community, raise awareness, and remind those experiencing domestic violence that help is available.
๐ฅ Today, we're kicking off a special video series featuring LCSO Victims Advocates Leann Oliver and Shelby King!
Throughout this series, they'll share important information about domestic violence, recognizing the warning signs, supporting someone who may be experiencing abuse, and the resources available to those who need help.
๐ In our first video, Victims Advocate Leann Oliver answers an important question: ๐๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ ๐ฏ๐ข๐จ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐๐?
Leann explains that abuse isn't always physical and shares information to help our community better understand the different forms domestic violence can take.
Domestic violence doesn't always leave visible scars. Understanding what abuse looks like and knowing how to respond can make a difference in someone's life.
We encourage everyone to wear purple today, watch and share this video, and help us spread awareness throughout Lancaster County. You never know who may need to hear this message.
Remember: You are not alone. You are not to blame. Help is available. ๐
