Meet Maxwell Cohen - Our Newest Sales Associate!

We’re excited to welcome Maxwell Cohen to the Laurel Valley Soils team!
Maxwell’s passion for healthy soil started early, growing up around his family’s orchard and learning from his grandfather just how important good soil is to everything we grow.
That interest led him to earn a degree in Agricultural Systems from The Evergreen State College and build hands-on experience across agriculture—from shellfish farming to intensive organic vegetable production.
Today, Maxwell brings that practical experience to Laurel Valley Soils, working directly with growers, nurseries, landscapers, and sitework contractors to understand their projects and help find the right soil solutions.
And if you’re looking for Maxwell, there’s a good chance you’ll find him where he likes to be—out on a job site, talking shop with customers.
Please join us in welcoming Maxwell to the Laurel Valley Soils team!
“The soil is the great connector of lives, the source and destination of all.”

Some plants like life a little rocky. So for Rash Field Park's new Rock Crevice Garden, we provided a specialized scree soil which is designed for the lean, fast-draining conditions these plantings require. It's another reminder that there's a soil for just about everything, and we can make them all! Mahan Rykiel Associates, Inc. Ruppert Landscape

That's a wrap! Or a taco - or anyway you prefer! The 2026 Laurel Valley Farms Employee Appreciation Day provided great food from Taqueria Moroleon, new work boots, a fun safety t-shirt, and raffles for gift cards, blue tooth speakers and even tv's! Thank you to all our employees for your commitment to excellence! We appreciate you!

Wow that Nor'easter sure didn’t do anyone any favors, especially after the already wet season we have had. But not to worry, your fields will dry out and when they do we will be ready with our full line of turf topdressing products!
Remember a well maintained turf field will recover quicker and is more resistant to damage from severe weather and hard play.
Topdressing with compost improves the soil profile creating both a better draining and a deeper and stronger root-zone!

to 2018 when was the latest soil trend and a cheeky way to bring attention to the power of microbes in healthy soil. We accepted the challenge, and planted a few pairs of Fruit of the Looms in our compost piles.

The New Phytologist's hot-off-the-press study "Soil health assessment using buried cotton underpants with the help of 1000 citizen scientists" mirrors our results as shown in their "Underpants Index". For context, our photo was taken 19 days after we planted. Our compost is full of hungry microbes, eager to go to work in your soil. https://nph.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ppp3.70259
