๐Ÿš Up, Up, and Away! ๐Ÿš Mrs. Farmerโ€™s 6th-grade science students took learning to new heights with a hands-on paper helicopter challenge! Students designed and built their own paper helicopters, then put them to the test to see how well they flew. But the challenge didn't stop there! Each student made modifications to their original design, experimenting with different features to improve flight performance. โœ‚๏ธ๐Ÿ“„ Through trial, error, and a little creative problem-solving, our young engineers discovered an important lesson in the engineering design process: test, evaluate, improve, and try again! ๐Ÿ’ก We love seeing our Cardinals think like engineers and learn that sometimes the best ideas take a little tweaking! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ–ค

โค๏ธ๐Ÿ–ค Service with a Heart! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ–ค Our Junior Beta Club members are encouraged to take the initiative in developing their own service projects, and these thoughtful young ladies came up with a wonderful way to show appreciation for some of our school's unsung heroesโ€”our custodians! ๐Ÿงน๐Ÿ’• The girls organized a schoolwide effort to collect signatures from students in all three grade levels, creating appreciation posters that they proudly displayed on the custodial room door. They also made a special card and suggested using some of the club's fundraising money to treat our custodians to lunch. ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ But they didn't stop there! They wanted our custodians to enjoy a truly duty-free lunch, so the girls volunteered to take over cleaning tables and picking up trash between lunch periods!

What makes this project especially meaningful is that it was entirely student-initiated. These young leaders saw an opportunity to make others feel valued and turned their appreciation into action. This is servant leadership at its finest! We are so proud of these Cardinals for demonstrating that even small acts of kindness can make a BIG difference! ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿ”Š๐ŸŽถ Sound Science in Action! ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ”Š Who knew a paper towel tube and two plastic cups could become a speaker? ๐Ÿคฏ Mrs. Farmerโ€™s 6th-grade science students explored the science of sound waves by building their own homemade speakers using just a few everyday materials! Students discovered how sound waves travel, reflect off the surfaces inside the cups, and are redirected to make the sound louder. This simple but clever experiment brought the science of sound to life! We love seeing our Cardinals turn everyday objects into exciting opportunities for hands-on learning! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ–ค

๐ŸŽ‰โค๏ธ๐Ÿ–ค It's official! Landrum Middle School has earned an EXCELLENT rating on the South Carolina School Report Card! ๐Ÿ–คโค๏ธ๐ŸŽ‰ And an achievement this big deserves an equally BIG celebration! ๐ŸŒŸ Our Cardinals were treated to a surprise pep rally as Dr. Walker shared the exciting news with the student body! The celebration was filled with cheers, noisemakers, confetti, and even a little Cha-Cha Slide! ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽŠ To top it all off, students enjoyed FREE snow cones! ๐Ÿง

This outstanding achievement reflects the hard work, dedication, and commitment of our students, teachers, staff, and families. We are incredibly proud of our entire school community for making excellence a priority every single day! EXCELLENT isn't just a ratingโ€”it's what we strive for! ๐ŸŒŸ
