🚑 Way Back Monday takes us back to one of the people who helped build VMSC
Mabel Reed. In 1933, at just 19 years old, Mabel became a charter member of the Volunteer Medical Service Corps. She went on to dedicate nearly 60 years to serving this community as a nurse and leader, including many years as Lieutenant of the Corps. From driving the ambulance and responding to lifesaving rescues to delivering babies along the way, Mabel answered the call wherever she was needed.
Working alongside Dr. Frank Boston for nearly three decades, Mabel helped establish a standard of care and compassion that she continued to uphold after his passing in 1960. Her contributions are woven into VMSC’s history and the generations of care that followed.
Today, we’re putting her story in the spotlight.
