Lansdale Electric has begun their annual infrared imaging inspection of the Borough's electric distribution system. Over the next several weeks, you may notice a Lansdale Electric truck driving along power lines with a specialized infrared camera mounted outside the passenger-side window.

This advanced technology allows our crews to detect overheating equipment and poor electrical connections that aren't visible to the naked eye. By identifying these issues early, we can make repairs before a connection fails, reducing the risk of unexpected outages and improving the overall reliability of our electric system.

While we're not fans of heat waves (and we're guessing you aren't either), they do have one benefit: Conducting this testing when electrical demand is at its highest—when equipment is operating under its greatest load and generating the most heat—provides the best opportunity to identify and address potential problems before they lead to failures or become more severe.

Once the infrared inspections are complete and reports are reviewed, both of the line crews will be working throughout the Borough to repair any identified issues and keep our electric system operating safely and efficiently.

Thank you for your patience as you see our crews out in the community. This important preventative maintenance helps us continue providing safe, reliable electric service to everyone in Lansdale.

The Borough and Lansdale Electric are updating their electric vehicle (EV) charging station policy to improve fairness and availability for all users. Over the next two weeks, Borough-owned Level 2 charging stations will no longer be free to use but will require payment for charging. Vehicles may use a space only until charging is completed. After that period, fees will apply if the vehicle remains parked in a charging space. Overnight parking at charging stations will no longer be permitted.

To use the chargers, customers must download the Tesla app and create an account. During setup, a credit card must be added for payment. That card will automatically be charged each time a Borough-owned Level 2 vehicle charger is used.
These changes are necessary to prevent long-term occupancy, reduce congestion and ensure that more residents and visitors have access to charging when they need it. Enforcement will be conducted to support compliance and maintain availability across all stations.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we make the charge and move forward with this process.

Reminder: The Borough is continuing to update electric meters in an effort to better serve our customers. The installer will knock on your door before accessing the existing electric meter(s) and there will be a brief interruption in power while the new meter is installed. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this upgrade process!
