The cold fall weather is setting in, and families / are already feeling the increased pressure on their finances. The last thing they need is higher heating bills driven by an unpopular, unconstitutional war and out-of-control inflation.

No more missed transfers or sitting stuck in gridlock: public transit in Michigan is taking a huge leap forward.

Michigan is rolling out $65 million across 18 game-changing transit projects. For our community, that means $6.6 million for The Ride to design rapid bus service between Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, plus a brand-new state coordinator dedicated to making sure bus and rail routes across Michigan actually link up.

Swipe through the slides to see the breakdown and what this means for your daily commute.

Yesterday, I joined Governor Gretchen Whitmer as she signed two of my bills into law.

These laws deliver critical funding to first responders and tribal communities across our state. Firefighters and first responders battling job-related cancer and illness will have more support so their treatments and lost wages are covered. Tribal communities will receive critical funding to guarantee emergency response, clean drinking water, and maintain public services.

If you put your life on the line for our neighborhoods, or you live in a tribal territory and rely on your community for essential daily care, you shouldn’t have to fight red tape or empty your savings to stay healthy and safe. Thank you to Governor Whitmer and my colleagues in the House and Senate for their leadership and partnership in getting these critical protections signed into law.

Good news for anyone dodging craters on their morning drive: the very first wave of funding from our new Neighborhood Roads Fund is officially rolling out to communities across Michigan!

This delivers dedicated resources straight to cities, villages, and county road agencies to fix our roughest local streets without forcing local match requirements that strain municipal budgets.

Along with fixing neighborhood roads, this package delivers direct investments for:

🪏$100 million to repair and replace local bridges
🚎 $100 million for public transit and local bus operations
🛤️ $40 million for rail grade separation projects to improve safety and keep traffic moving

We still have a long way to go, but it’s great to see real, dedicated funding finally reaching our local pavement.

Gas prices are up. Grocery prices are up. Utility costs are up. And now thousands more American troops are being sent to the Middle East. Michiganders deserve leaders focused on lowering costs and investing in communities here at home.

While Trump is making millions from his gold-plated Oval Office, Michiganders are falling behind on bills and even skipping meals. Something needs to change.

Why is state law protecting DTE’s bottom line by capping how much solar you can put on your own roof?

Right now, arbitrary rules block families from generating enough power to switch to heat pumps or charge an EV, locking folks into endless rate hikes just to keep utility revenues sky-high. I introduced the Home Energy Freedom Act to raise that cap, tripling it from 110% to 300% so you have the freedom to power your own home and slash your bills.

Morgan Introduces Legislation to Expand Home Energy Freedom, Lower Costs for Michigan Families LANSING, Mich., Sept. 24, 2026 — State Rep. Jason Morgan (D-Ann Arbor) introduced commonsense legislation today to take on monopoly utility power, lower energy bills for Michigan families and give homeow...
