Michigan Army National Guard Recruiting Official page of the Michigan Army National Guard – serving communities, providing military service, leadership, and educational opportunities across Michigan.

We provide an opportunity to serve the local community, state, and country part-time (typically one-weekend per month and two-weeks in the summer). This allows members to serve their country, while enabling them to focus full-time on an education or chosen civilian profession. In return for their service, members receive competitive pay and paid/certified job training in many different skills. Other benefits include paid civilian education, savings plan and a retirement pension. Regardless of their job in the Guard, members stand ready at a moment's notice to protect the lives and property of Michigan citizens during a natural disaster or civil disturbance. This includes assisting first responders like ambulances, police and firefighters. Clearing roads, managing evacuation routes, search and rescue missions, providing food, water, and shelter are just a few of the things that may be expected of a local National Guard Citizen-Soldier. In addition to this responsibility, we also have a commitment to defend our nation during times of war or national emergencies. National Guard Soldiers have served in every major conflict in American history from the American Revolution to the present.

25 years ago. Never Forget.

• World Trade Center (New York City): Two hijacked planes (American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175) struck the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center, causing both to collapse.
• The Pentagon (Arlington, Virginia): A third plane (American Airlines Flight 77) was flown into the Pentagon.
• Shanksville, Pennsylvania: Passengers and crew on a fourth plane (United Flight 93) fought the hijackers, causing the plane to crash in an empty field rather than hitting its intended target in Washington, D.C.

(Aftermath and Legacy)
• Loss of Life:
The attacks resulted in the deadliest act of terrorism in world history, claiming the lives of civilians from over 80 countries, alongside hundreds of first responders.

• National Security: The event reshaped global aviation, intelligence, and national security policy, leading to the creation of the Department of Homeland Security and the 9/11 Commission

Distance: 20 km (12.4 miles)
Weight Requirement: Minimum 10 kg (approx. 23 lbs) dry weight in the rucksack (water weight does not count).
