Earlier today a member of the community asked me to complete an online profile on an election site because she tried to look me up and couldn’t find much about me.

Let me start with I’m not a career politician. I am a career advocate for humanity and community. Having said that, you can find me on our township government page as I am currently a trustee. ➡️ Search on Facebook for Wendi King if you want a glimpse into my family life. As I’ve shared, I am a wife, mother, grandmother (grands call me Lolli and my husband Pop), daughter (blessed to have my parents still with me), and friend. My family and friends are near and dear to my heart.

➡️ Search Facebook for ABLE Allies and you’ll find my non profit. As a retired special education teacher of over 35 years, I started a group to give young adults with disabilities access to social skills, life skills, and job training skills.

➡️ Search Poppa’s Cookbook, LLC and you’ll find my husband’s restaurant and catering business that I help run. I am post proud of our PAY IT FORWARD WITH POPPA PROGRAM where we feed the homeless and those in need for free whenever we are open, with the help of community donations.

I got my absentee ballot in the mail today WITH MY NAME ON IT.

57 years ago no one could’ve imagined that the little girl my mom held in her arms would one day be running for an elected office.

My entire life I’ve cared about others. Wanted everyone to be ok. And treated those around me with dignity and respect.

I believe that holding an office is about caring about the needs of the community and believing in the rights for ALL. I have spent a year working for this community as your trustee, and I’m ready for you to elect me to finish the work I’ve already started.

Community is my passion. Saturday night I took my non-profit group, ABLE Allies , along with friends and family, to the Marvel night. Sometimes community is made better just by one person working to make others feel better. Each one of us, elected or not, has the ability to make the choice to bring joy to the life of someone else. If each of us wakes up tomorrow and dedicates part of our day to bringing joy to another, imagine the positive impact that would have on our community as a whole.

If you can take one thing away from my viewpoint as a human, it’s that it’s always easier to be kind and give other humans the benefit of the doubt. We are all trying and doing the best we can. I have to believe that.

As a former special education teacher, founder a non profit for adults with special needs, and a grandmother of two grandsons on the spectrum, I understand this dilemma (of being their for those who need your assistance) and pray I will be given grace as I navigate the world assisting those I help and love.
