It’s not just ghosts keeping watch over Michigan’s final resting places… 👻

Through LARA’s Corporations, Securities & Commercial Licensing Bureau (CSCL), the Cemetery Commissioner registers and regulates cemeteries covered by Michigan’s Cemetery Regulation Act.

LARA’s responsibilities include auditing trust funds, reviewing ownership changes, investigating applications for new cemeteries and complaints.

These responsibilities help ensure regulated cemeteries operate in accordance with Michigan law and provide Michiganders with resources when questions arise.

It's Fire Prevention Month, and LARA, along with State Fire Marshal Tom Hughes, are calling on Michiganders to reduce the risk of fire in their homes.

Changes in home construction, furnishings, and other materials found in our homes over the last several decades have made it possible for fires to burn hotter, spread faster, and produce more toxic smoke. In modern fires, people may only have 3 minutes or less to escape a home fire.

For more tips on preventing fires in your home, visit MI Prevention
