Developing the comprehensive Michigan Emergency Management Capability and Needs report of this magnitude requires significant time, strategic planning, dedicated funding, and a commitment to data integrity. With the wide variety of local emergency management program structures, staffing models, and budgets across Michigan, collecting accurate and meaningful data was no small undertaking.
Through collaboration with Kent County Emergency Management and the Michigan State Police Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division, funding was secured to hire an independent contractor to lead this extensive project and ensure the integrity of the data collection process.
The survey design team recognized this as a unique opportunity to gather critical information that would highlight the capabilities, challenges, and resource needs of local emergency management programs throughout Michigan. The resulting data will help strengthen advocacy efforts, educate decision-makers, and demonstrate the importance of continued investment in emergency management.
Throughout this process, Scott Corbin demonstrated steadfast leadership, dedication, and a genuine passion for advancing the emergency management profession. His commitment to seeing this project through reflects MEMA’s mission of **“Progress Through Unity.”**
Please join us in congratulating **Scott Corbin, Emergency Management Coordinator for Kent County, as the recipient of the MEMA Advocacy and Leadership Award!**
**Brian Stalsonburg graciously accepted the award on Scott’s behalf.**
Congratulations, Scott, and thank you for your continued leadership, advocacy, and dedication to strengthening emergency management across Michigan!
