MABA thanks Consumers Energy for hosting this month's Lansing Ag Club breakfast. Michigan agriculture leaders appreciated hearing an update from Chris Fultz, President of Electric Supply for Consumers, and the discussion about the utility's recently-filed Energy Supply Plan. Reliable, affordable energy is critical for Michigan agriculture. MABA will continue to review the Energy Supply Plan alongside our members in the coming months. We appreciated the opportunity to be part of the Great Lakes Sustainable Fuel Symposium hosted by Michigan Corn in Dearborn. The purpose of this meeting was to focus on positioning Michigan as a leader in sustainable fuel production, including through the production of advanced biofuels like Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). MABA was glad to help sponsor this first-of-its-kind event because advanced biofuels hold substantial economic promise for Michigan agriculture.

The Cooperative Elevator Co. team did a great job Thursday hosting Senator Elissa Slotkin, Michigan’s member of the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee, for a tour at its Ruth, MI location. Experts from the Co-op discussed industry economics, the importance of export markets for Thumb products like dry beans, advancements in agricultural technology, and more. We thank Senator Slotkin for visiting the Thumb and asking thoughtful questions as you represent Michigan agriculture in the Senate.
