“We’re really excited to be here at Dearborn Public Schools talking about this investment that is aimed at increasing the amount of Michigan grown and produced food that is served in the district, and at the same time building relationships with farmers in the region.”

Dr. Tim Boring, director of the Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development - MDARD.

What’s for lunch, Michigan?

Today, we are sharing a tray from Brethren Middle High School in Manistee County.

What makes this tray so wonderful? It is fish and chips with potato crusted po***ck, crispy baked fries, honey whole grain hush puppies, homemade tartar sauce and topped with fresh herbs. It is served with low fat milk, fresh watermelon, and heirloom tomato-topped salad.

We want to thank the team at Kaleva Norman Dickson School District for serving your students great school lunches.

Michigan Farm to Program Directory (NEW)

With Michigan’s growing season in full swing, remember to check out the Michigan Farm to Program Directory, a free-to-use, searchable database of both suppliers and buyers of Michigan-grown products.

This tool was developed by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) and its partners to make it easier for food program operators to buy and serve Michigan fresh produce, and to help Michigan farmers and food suppliers connect with new customers.

Search the database here: https://conta.cc/4wssJQy

Need help with your profile, or registering as a buyer or supplier? User guides are available on the Resources page of the 10 Cents a Meal section of MDE's website here: https://conta.cc/3QWb30O
