A few updated pictures of our little rehab squirrel. She was weighed yesterday and weighed in at 359.5g! That's a big change from the 86g she came in at. She has been moved outside for pre release so that she can start getting used to the sounds, sights, and weather. We plan to do a soft release for her in the coming weeks so likely no big release picture/video. I'll get some pictures with her outside as soon as I can

Baby season is one of the busiest times of year for many wildlife rehabbers. This little squirrel came in about 2 weeks ago after she was found under someone's grill after a recent windstorm, the finder tried to locate the nest (called a drey for squirrels) but was unable to so she contacted me for care.

First patient of 2026. This young Virginia Opossum was brought to them finder by their dog. He has a small wound on the tip of his tail and on one of his toes and is pretty skinny. He will be staying with me for observation and hopefully some good meals for the time being.
*fun facts*:
- Opossums are North America's only native marsupial, the females have a pouch that young are raised in
- They have 50 teeth-more than any other North American land mammal
-Estimated a single Opossum can eat 5,000 ticks per year helping reduce the spread of tick borne diseases
- They have a prehensile tail
- Highly unlikely for them to contract rabies, the open mouthed drooling display that many people thing means they are rabid is actually one of their defenses

This little guy came in yesterday evening with his sibling after their nest was attacked by a dog. Unfortunately his sibling passed away shortly after intake but this guy has held on. I'll be transporting him to the May Wildlife Center this afternoon for continued care since he has a fractured hind leg that I am not equipped to fix

Our little bunny from earlier this week was released today. He was eating and drinking well, had no issues with movement, and the missing fur was already starting to grow back in. I decided to go ahead while we had good weather to release him so he didn't continue to be stressed out in captivity. He seemed happy to hop off onto the woods

The dogs alerted me to this little guy on our back porch this evening. He has a slight degloving injury where his fur was separated from his skin but no open wounds or fractures. Bunnies can be very sensitive in rehab and stress very easily so even though his injuries aren't significant he isn't out of the woods and he could use some positive thoughts for speedy healing and release
