Lansing Correctional Facility Lansing Correctional Facility (LCF) is the state’s largest and oldest correctional complex for adult male inmates.

At the close of 2013, LCF had a capacity of 2,405. The complex consists of the Central Unit, which includes an 11-acre maximum-security facility, and a 46-acre medium-security facility, and the East Unit which is an 85-acre minimum-security facility. LCF also houses one of two centers for the KDOC’s transportation system that provides for the movement of inmates among the state's correctional facilities. As with other facilities under the management of the Secretary of Corrections, education, health services and food services are provided through contracts with private vendors. Originally named the Kansas State Penitentiary when the facility was authorized by the Kansas Constitution in 1859, the name was legislatively changed to the Lansing Correctional Facility (LCF) on June 18, 1990.

🏆 Day 1 of the Prison Challenge! 🏆

Lansing Correctional Facility staff kicked off Day 1 of the three-day Prison Challenge today, competing against FCI Leavenworth (Federal Bureau of Prisons), the United States Disciplinary Barracks (USDB), and the Missouri Department of Corrections!

Our team is off to a great start with some impressive finishes!

Bus Pull - 1st place
Dodge ball - 2nd place
Co****le - 2nd place

This year's event is especially exciting, as it marks the first time the Prison Challenge has taken place since COVID-19!

We are so appreciative of everyone who came together to make this event happen again. A lot of planning, coordination, and teamwork went into bringing this tradition back, and we couldn't have done it without everyone's involvement.

It's great to see staff from different agencies come together, enjoy some friendly competition, and have a little fun outside of their everyday responsibilities.

We are proud of our LCF staff for showing up and representing our facility so well!

One day down, two more to go! Let's keep it going, Team LCF! 💪🏆

💗 At Lansing Correctional Facility, we wear pink with purpose! 🎀

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and our LCF staff are proudly showing their support by trading in their traditional badges for PINK! 💕

These pink badges represent more than just a color. They symbolize hope, strength, courage, and solidarity with those who are currently battling breast cancer, those who have overcome it, and those we have lost along the way.

At LCF, we stand together to raise awareness, honor survivors, and remind everyone that no one fights alone.

🎀 Different badges. One mission. A cause bigger than us all.

Congratulations to our newly promoted Captain Fontenot!! 🥳We are proud of you!
