The Laramie Police Department is a full-service police department serving the City of Laramie. Located in southeastern Wyoming, the department has 74 employees, forty-seven of whom are sworn officers. These employees function in differing roles within the Command, Patrol, Investigations, Support Services, and the Records and Communications (LARC) Divisions. Located about two hours north of Denver, Colorado and about 30 minutes from the Snowy Range Mountains, Laramie is just minutes from many great outdoor activities. We pride ourselves on the professionalism of our department and continue to look at innovative ways to advance policing. Philanthropic support of the Department is realized through the Laramie Police Department Foundation.

Zara, our narcotics detection K9, would like to remind you that it’s not only Halloween, it’s also the last day of Red Ribbon Week, the nations largest drug-prevention campaign.

As you head out tonight:

✅ Check your kids’ candy before they dig in✅ Plan a sober ride home if you’re celebrating✅ Slow down and watch for trick-or-treaters

Have a safe and happy Halloween, Laramie!

It's Fuzzy Friday!

Meet Ebenezer, a large brown tabby domestic shorthair, about 1 to 2 years old and ready to find his forever home. He came to us as a stray, so his history is a mystery, but he has turned out to be a sweet boy. He is pictured here with Officer Weaver.

A few things to know: Ebenezer is an independent guy who likes his space, but he will still come in for a snuggle when the mood strikes. He will be neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before he heads home.

Ebenezer would love to meet you at the Laramie Animal Shelter. Questions? Call 307-721-5385.

Zara has been busy! 🐾 Since joining our team, K9 Zara and her handler, Officer Meyer, have been out meeting the people and organizations that make Laramie a great place to live. Swipe through to see some of her stops.

HomeBase Laramie, WyoTech- Laramie, Laramie High School, Cathedral Home, and Cowboy Saloon & Dance Hall, thank you for the warm welcome. Zara loved meeting your teams!

Strong partnerships are the foundation of public safety, and every handshake (and every head scratch) helps build the trust that lets us work together!

Today is National First Responders Day, and we want to say thank you!

Every day, firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, deputies, dispatchers, and officers answer the call, often at the worst moment of someone’s life. They work holidays, nights, and storms. They leave their own families to help yours.

To our partners in public safety and every person who serves this community, we are proud to work beside you, and we are grateful for what you do.

To our neighbors in Laramie, thank you for the support you show us every day!

The Special Response Team is conducting a training at 509 S. 9th Street today from 8 am until 12 pm. Community members can expect an increased police presence in the area during this time.

Again, training only, with no threat to the public.

It’s a special edition of Fuzzy Friday, and we have big news! Meet the newest addition to our team, K9 Zara! 🐾

K9 Zara is a German Shepherd, just over a year old, and the newest member of LPD. She is also our first police K9 since 1999.

Zara is trained in narcotics detection and tracking, and she will work alongside her handler, Officer Seth Meyer. The two recently completed 120 hours of handler training together where they learned to work as a team, building the communication and trust needed to operate safely and effectively in the field.

None of this would be possible without our community. A big thank you again to HomeBase Laramie for hosting their golf tournament fundraiser this summer. Your generosity helped bring K9 Zara to Laramie, and we are grateful for your support.

We can’t wait to introduce Zara to Laramie residents and community partners over the coming weeks. Welcome to the team, Zara!
