Multiple catalytic converter thefts occurred overnight from vehicles parked in the Village.
Thieves can remove them in minutes, causing costly damage. Be on the lookout for jacked-up vehicles, people working under cars with tools, loud cutting sounds, or suspicious vehicles circling.
Protect your car: Park in a garage or well-lit area, consider an anti-theft shield, engrave your VIN, and use motion lights or an alarm.
Report suspicious activity to Larchmont PD at (914) 834-1000. Call 911 for emergencies.

We are thrilled to announce that Mike Smeets has been honored as our AAA Community Traffic Safety Hero Award recipient!

As a civilian volunteer in Larchmont & Mamaroneck, Mike goes above and beyond every single day:

The Daily Bike Train: Organizes and leads a daily supervised bike ride escorting kids safely to school, rain or shine.
Corridor Safety Advocacy: Leads grassroots efforts advocating for a redesign and ā€œroad dietā€ on the high-speed Boston Post Road corridor.


The Village of Larchmont has also earned the AAA Silver Award! This designation recognizes our ongoing commitment to local traffic safety through:

Active local Traffic Safety Committees addressing hazards
Regionally coordinated safety programs & DEI-focused outreach
Proven enforcement, engineering fixes, and educational events

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the tragic passing of Larchmont Police Patrolman Arthur Dematte, who was shot and killed in the line of duty on October 12, 1976.
Patrolman Dematte lost his life while attempting to remove his assailant from the Larchmont railroad tracks just moments before the unexpected attack. To honor his memory, Dematteā€™s family gathered today alongside members of the Larchmont and Mamaroneck Police Departments, retired service members, and local community members for a vigil to remember and celebrate his life.

Please join the family of Patrolman Arthur Dematte and the members of the Larchmont Police Department this Monday, October 12 at 12pm for a commemorative ceremony honoring the 50 year anniversary of his passing. Patrolman Dematte was killed in the line of duty October 12 1976, slain with his own service weapon. Gone but never forgotten.

Weather Alert: A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect through 6:00 PM Sunday, September 27.

Event Cancellation: Larchmont Day activities scheduled for Saturday, September 26, are canceled due to severe weather and are rescheduled for Saturday, November 14.

Outdoor Dining Suspension: All outdoor public use permits are suspended until 8:00 AM Monday, 9/28/26.

Emergency Parking Regulations: Permit requirements, overnight regulations, and fees for Lot 3 are WAIVED through 6:00 PM Sunday. Flood zone residents are encouraged to park in Lot 3, towards the train station overpass.

Key Precautions:
Secure flood-prone areas and loose outdoor items.
Use extreme caution when driving; NEVER drive through barricades or standing water.
