As we prepare for high winds and increased rainfall, please make safety a priority. If running a generator do so a safe distance from your residence, and in accordance to manufacturer specifications. Stay clear of downed trees and powerlines. As our crews respond to multiple emergencies we often leave barricades or caution tape, please do not walk or drive past these warnings. As always our members are prepared and ready to respond to your emergency.
Weather update
A nor’easter is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain through Sunday. A Coastal Flood Warning for southern Westchester is in effect from 6 p.m. today to 6 p.m. Sunday. Vulnerable waterfront and shoreline areas could see 2–3 feet of flooding above ground level. High tides, especially around Saturday’s full moon, may worsen flooding.
The Lower Hudson Valley could receive 1.5–3 inches of rain. Wind gusts of 40–50 mph, locally up to 55 mph, may bring down limbs and trees. Power outages are possible.
Use extra caution near the waterfront, secure loose outdoor items, and follow the latest National Weather Service updates. Never drive around road barriers or through standing or moving water. The attached bulletin is based on the 6:58 a.m. briefing; conditions and alerts may change.
