Larchmont VAC Larchmont Volunteer Ambulance Corps, serves the Village of Larchmont and Town of Mamaroneck communities, 24/7/365 with emergency ambulance service.

The Larchmont Volunteer Ambulance Corps., or LVAC, is an all-volunteer, New York State non-profit organization. Since our founding in 1972, we have been the sole provider of Emergency Medical Services in the Town of Mamaroneck and the Village of Larchmont. In 1972, a small group of concerned citizens formed our agency and on February 1st of that year we were officially incorporated under the name of The Volunteer Ambulance Corps of the Unincorporated Area of the Town of Mamaroneck. In August of 1972 members began providing service a few hours each evening and purchased our first ambulance by raising funds through a door-to-door campaign, not unlike the yearly mailer we send out today. Our first ambulance was housed in a converted horse barn on Palmer Avenue, next to our current home, leased from the Town of Mamaroneck for a dollar per year, and yes, they really did collect that dollar! Today our members continue to carry on the tradition of our founding members, to deliver the best possible care to those in need. Beyond providing exemplary medical services, we are proud to offer CPR classes, stand-by ambulances at local events, parades, and fairs, and informational sessions to local community schools, camps, and organizations. We are always recruiting new members! Please visit our website at www.larchmontvac.org to learn more and submit your application! This account is not monitored 24/7, in an emergency call 911.

The members that make up Larchmont Volunteer Ambulance Corps come from a wide array of professional backgrounds. We are proudly made up of police officers, firefighters, paramedics, students, technology specialists, teachers, healthcare professionals, and many other professions.

We are excited to continue our monthly series highlighting the achievements of our members and showcasing their lives beyond the Corps. This month,
we’d like to introduce Kim Constantinesco!

Kim first heard about Larchmont VAC from a current member while training to become an EMT. She was drawn to the Corps by its community of smart, empathetic people who bring professionalism, curiosity, humility, and compassion to EMS.

Since joining, Kim has come to appreciate the dedication of LVAC’s members and their willingness to show up for others without expecting recognition in return. She also values the Corps’ rich history and tradition of service.

Outside of LVAC, Kim works full-time in health technology, helping people prevent and reverse chronic disease. She also serves on the National Kidney Foundation’s advocacy team, supporting efforts to improve organ donation and transplantation systems.

In her free time, Kim enjoys running, snowboarding, movies, theater, and spending time with her German Shepherd, Aspen. She even combines her love of running and EMS each year by volunteering at the finish line of the NYC Marathon!

Our motto, “Second to None,” is exemplified through Kim’s commitment to serving others both inside and outside of LVAC. We thank Kim for all she does and congratulate her on being our featured member!

We remember. We honor. We never forget.

This photo captures members responding on the night of September 11, 2001, answering the call when our nation needed them most. Our crews would rotate and operate for several days in Lower Manhattan assisting in recovery efforts.

Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day, the countless heroes who ran toward danger, and the first responders who have since lost their lives to 9/11-related illnesses.

25 years later, their sacrifice remains with us.

We are excited to continue our monthly series highlighting the achievements of our members and showcasing their lives beyond the Corps. This month, we’d like to introduce you to Bryce Spatz!

Bryce grew up in the Larchmont-Mamaroneck area and often saw Larchmont VAC serving the community around town. After learning more about the Corps through a current member who encouraged him to join, Bryce decided to become involved himself.

With a passion for helping others and an interest in emergency services, Bryce found Larchmont VAC to be the perfect opportunity to give back to the community he grew up in. Through volunteering, he is able to make a difference in the lives of his neighbors while gaining valuable experience in emergency medical services.

This fall, Bryce will begin his freshman year Ohio State University, where he will major in Aviation Management. He is excited to begin this next chapter, explore his interest in aviation, and, of course, experience Ohio State football games!

Beyond riding the ambulance, Bryce enjoys hanging out with friends, spending time with his family, and traveling. Although he will be away at college during the school year, he looks forward to returning to Larchmont VAC during school breaks and throughout the summer to continue serving his community.

Our motto at Larchmont VAC, “Second to None,” is exemplified through Bryce’s commitment to giving back to the community he has called home. Bryce’s dedication to service and eagerness to continue learning make him a valued member of our Corps. For all that Bryce does, we thank him for his service and congratulate him on being our featured member!

As summer comes to an end, we’re saying goodbye to our school aged members as they head back to school!

This past weekend, we had a great dinner together to celebrate these incredible members and everything they’ve contributed. Each of them has made a difference, and we’re especially proud that they’ve all either become EMTs or are currently working toward that goal.

From late-night calls and training nights to countless hours volunteering, they’ve shown an incredible commitment to serving our community while balancing school, work, and everything else college life brings.

We’ll miss having them around, but we’re excited to see what’s ahead for each of them. Good luck this semester, everyone!

We are excited to continue our monthly series highlighting the achievements of our members and showcasing their lives beyond the Corps. This month, we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Yannett!

Amanda joined Larchmont VAC after completing her EMT certification. She first learned about us during the ride-along portion of her EMT course, from other providers.

Always drawn to medicine and service, Amanda studied Biology and Psychology with a pre-med concentration at William & Mary. After graduation, she discovered a passion for teaching and became a science teacher. While she loved teaching, she realized she missed being involved in medicine and wanted to combine both passions through EMS.

As a teacher and coach, giving back to her community has always been important to Amanda. Volunteering as an EMT quickly became the perfect fit, and her experience at Larchmont VAC inspired her to continue pursuing a career in healthcare. This fall, she will begin graduate nursing studies at the University of Pennsylvania while continuing to volunteer with Larchmont VAC on weekends and during school breaks.

Outside of Larchmont VAC, Amanda has coached high school softball and soccer for the past five years; including most recently an undefeated season with Rye High School soccer and a state championship title! She enjoys snowboarding, scuba diving, wakeboarding, and traveling, and has been fortunate enough to visit all seven continents. She also loves spending time with her dog and being by the water.

Despite balancing a demanding career in education, graduate school, and volunteering, Amanda remains committed to serving her community with compassion and professionalism. Her dedication to both her patients and her fellow members reflects the values that Larchmont VAC strives to uphold every day.

Our motto here at Larchmont VAC, “Second to None,” is exemplified through Amanda’s commitment both on and off the ambulance. Amanda is a compassionate EMT, educator, and leader whose passion for service inspires those around her. For all that Amanda does, we thank her for her service and congratulate her on being our featured member!

Saturday morning Larchmont VAC provided EMS coverage for Swim Across America's Long Island Sound open water swim! Over 750 swimmers took to Long Island Sound, swimming either 2k, 5k, or 10k while raising money for cancer research.

We provided incident command along with assistance from Town of Mamaroneck Fire Department for the duration of the event. We also worked closely with Westchester County Department of Emergency Services and Friends of 60 Control to develop communication plans for all Westchester County and Nassau County units. Thanks to Atlantic Beach Rescue and Syosset Fire Dept we had eyes in the sky with their drone units.

Our sincere thanks as well to Eastchester EMS, City of Glen Cove EMS, Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps; Village of Mamaroneck Fire Department; police marine units from City of Rye Police Department, Mamaroneck PBA, New Rochelle Police Department, and countless other first responders who helped make this event safe!

Summer has been off to a busy start!

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been proud to serve our community at some of our favorite annual traditions, including our 4th of July and the Fireman’s Parade standbys. We also spent some time at Camp Seagull for First Responder Day, connecting with Larchmont Fire and Police while giving campers a closer look at the work first responders do every day. All in addition to answering more than 60 calls in the last week.

Whether we’re standing by at community events, educating younger generations, or staffing both of our trucks, we’re grateful to be part of such an incredible community.

Here’s to a safe and fun summer!

Our crews will be standing by throughout the weekend, just as we do every day, ensuring everyone has a safe and happy Fourth of July!
