A BIG THANK YOU to the IWRC and their amazing Staff and Instructor, Dr. Rob Adamski, for the weekend class full of information! Basic Wildlife Rehabilitation course was not basic at all! 😅 So much valuable knowledge was shared with us by Dr. Adamski 💚 We hope continue providing workshops and speaker series to our Wildlife Enthusiasts.

UPDATE: Owl is being transported to Last Chance Forever Raptor Center in San Antonio. Thanks Amelia Solís !!!

An owl was received today covered in oil/grease from Cotulla. This is a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers wildlife can face around exposed oil pits and petroleum products.

Birds can mistake these areas for safe places to land. Once contaminated, oil can destroy the natural protection of their feathers, making it difficult for them to fly, stay warm, and survive. Birds may also ingest toxic substances while trying to clean themselves.

Properly covering and securing oil pits can help prevent these tragedies.

A big thanks to former La Salle County Judge, Joel Rodriguez, for holding it until transportation was found. Protecting wildlife often starts with preventing access to dangerous areas. One simple safety measure can save a life. ❤️🦉
