💚 World Mental Health Day | October 10 🌎

Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change.

Every story matters. Every voice deserves to be heard. Every experience has the power to inspire change. 💚

This World Mental Health Day, Laredo Public Health recognizes the importance of listening to lived experiences, breaking down stigma, and creating a community where mental health conversations are met with compassion, understanding, and support.

Mental health affects individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life. By amplifying real voices and embracing diverse experiences, we can build a stronger, healthier, and more inclusive Laredo.

💚 Listen without judgment. Support with compassion. Advocate for change.

Together, we can make mental health a priority and remind our community that no one has to face their challenges alone.

📞 If you or someone you know needs emotional support, call or text 988 for free, confidential support 24/7.

🎓💙 Inspiring the Next Generation of Healthcare Professionals!

Laredo Public Health Assistant Director Erika Gutiérrez Martínez had the opportunity to speak with students from the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Dr. F.M. Canseco School of Nursing about the importance of public health and the vital role it plays in keeping our community healthy.

During the presentation, students learned about the many services and programs offered by Laredo Public Health, from preventive healthcare and immunizations to health education, disease prevention, and community outreach.

The discussion also highlighted how public health and nursing work hand in hand to improve health outcomes, address community needs, and promote healthier futures.

We thank TAMIU for the opportunity to connect with future healthcare professionals and share the impact of public health beyond the clinical setting.

Together, we continue to Prevent, Promote, and Protect! 💙

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month! ✨

Today, the City of Laredo proudly recognized Dyslexia Awareness Month with an official proclamation, highlighting the importance of awareness, early identification, education, and support for individuals with dyslexia.

At Laredo Public Health, we recognize that every individual learns differently and deserves the opportunity to thrive. Dyslexia does not define a person’s intelligence, abilities, or potential. With understanding, appropriate resources, and encouragement, individuals with dyslexia can achieve incredible success.

Different Ways of Learning. Endless Possibilities.

Together, we can break down barriers, challenge misconceptions, promote inclusion, and build a community where every learner feels empowered, supported, and valued.

Let’s continue raising awareness and celebrating the unique strengths and abilities of individuals with dyslexia!
