Good advice from our colleagues to the south: visible address markers save time in emergencies.

🚒 **If we can’t see your address, it takes longer to find you.**

When you call 911, clearly visible house numbers help emergency crews reach you quickly. Take a look at your address sign from the road, especially after dark.

✅ Are the numbers easy to read?
✅ Are branches or vegetation blocking the sign?
✅ Is it faded, damaged or missing numbers?
✅ Can crews identify your driveway from either direction?

As the days get shorter, now is a great time to replace an old sign or clear anything hiding it. Keep signs visible throughout winter by removing snow buildup, too.

**Need a new reflective address sign?** Black Forest Fire Rescue offers signs for residents within our district. Find details and submit a request here:

914 is the number of calls for service we’ve received through September. As with most departments, the majority of those are medical (58%) and a good portion are motor vehicle crashes (220 so far).

If you have questions about how we respond to any type of call, please reach out. We’d be happy to talk to you about it. 303.681.3284

And as always, if you think you need us please don't wait to call 9-1-1! We'd rather show up and not be needed than show up too late.

Take preparations for the season's first frost if you need to...

We could see some additional light showers late this morning and early this afternoon before precipitation clears the area. Temperatures this afternoon will remain below normal, with highs in the upper 40s to mid-50s across the plains. Tonight will be quite a bit colder than we’ve seen in a long while, with the potential for the first freeze of the season for the plains!

Thinking of getting an E-bike or scooter for yourself or a loved one? They are growing in popularity by leaps and bounds so you'll have plenty of company. There’s also a small but growing number of fires associated with these devices. So, be sure you do your homework before you buy and follow directions for safe and proper charging. Charge E-bikes and scooters outside if you can. If charging inside, make sure the space is a flat, dry area away from children, direct sunlight, liquids, tripping hazards, and in a location where the e-bike is not at risk of tipping over.
