25 years ago, terrorists hijacked 4 planes full of innocent passengers and attacked the United States, killing 2,977 people (officially). A further reported 9,400 more died in the aftermath from the effects and toxins, even to this day.
First responders, neighbors, and many strangers didn't hesitate to rush in and do what they could to help, even giving their own lives. They were, and are, an example of the strength and resiliency of the people of the United States.
343 firefighters, over 60 law enforcement officers, 8 EMS workers, and 55 service members were killed as they fought on scene to save the lives of others.
Those events are forever etched into the memories of those of us who are old enough to remember that terrible morning.
We vowed to never forget. πΊπ²
