Thomas Branigan Memorial Library is more than books.

Las Cruces Public Libraries check out nearly 500,000 materials each year, while community members log almost 800,000 minutes of public computer use. In 2026 alone, the Library offered over 1,000 programs with more than 26,000 attendees. From literacy and education to technology, business resources, and community programming, the Library serves residents of all ages.

Come and play Magic: The Gathering with us on Tuesdays from 4:30 to 7:30 at our Thomas Branigan Memorial Library Location.

Big Into Magic (the Gathering is an all-ages event where players may play any MTG format, but the primary focus will be Commander. 'Commander deck sizes are 99 cards + 1 commander card. Games in this format should take about 20 minutes per player. Commander format is all about picking your hero and building a deck around them.

In this casual, multiplayer format, you choose a legendary creature to serve as your Commander and build the rest of your deck around its color identity and unique abilities. Players may include only one copy of each card in their deck, except basic lands, and can use cards from throughout Magic's history.

Also, don't forget that we have Magic: The Gathering starter decks available for checkout from our Library of Things!

What could the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library Renovation and Expansion Project include?

The proposed project would add approximately 20,000 square feet to the existing Library and create:
• More space for books, materials and programs
• Additional community space
• Improved ADA accessibility
• Increased security
• A modernized facility designed to meet current and future community needs

If approved by voters, construction is expected to take approximately 18 to 24 months.

Get creative and messy by painting your troubles away! Saturday, October 17, starting at 3 PM at our Thomas Braningan Memorial Library Location.

We supply the 8x10 canvases, paint, and brushes; you supply the vision and talent!

Registration is required, but this program is open to all ages. This might be a little messy, so please keep that in mind when choosing your clothes for the afternoon.
