grateful for the opportunity to share my love of yoga with our neighbors at our homeless shelter Bridge To Home every Monday. Unlocking aspects of your physical body can unlock aspects of your spiritual body 😘💙🙏🏻~ studying and practicing yoga has definitely helped me in my continuous journey to be a more compassionate person 🙏🏻

had a great time baking cornbread for and volunteering at a fundraiser for my local VFW this morning! Thanks for putting together yet another successful event Gala Caprice Cruz! Your tireless efforts are inspirational. Most of all, thank you to all of our veterans, including my Congressman Michael Garcia (happy birthday!), for their service 🇺🇸❤️~

I am extremely blessed to have both a full-time and part-time job in the pharmaceutical industry, but what I really love doing is teaching yoga + meditation at my city’s homeless shelter Bridge To Home every Monday, and spending time with unhoused neighbors on the streets of Canoga Park who are mentally, physically, and logistically preparing to address their he**in addiction by entering rehab (formal program or not). Whether through purchasing power (micro-gifts like a sewing machine, or micro-loans), volunteering services, or simply making eye contact and having a truly open-hearted and respectful conversation with someone, we are all qualified to help those around us, simply by being compassionate human beings. What fuels you? 💙🙏🏻~

So grateful to the William S. Hart Union High School District social workers for sharing their time with some fellow Rotary Club of Santa Clarita Valley members today so we could learn about their tireless and far-reaching efforts in the community. We focused our discussion on how non-profits like Rotary, groups like the City of Santa Clarita Government’s Homelessness Task Force, and new concepts can help address the phenomenal number of K-12 students experiencing homelessness, and those on the brink of homelessness, in our community. Last week’s count reports 769 students experiencing homelessness in the Hart School District (my district) alone. Contact me if you’re interested in learning more about what our hometown hero social workers do in the school districts or how to get involved helping our homeless neighbors 🙏🏻💙~

Living the absolute dream - not only did I get to teach yoga at my city’s homeless shelter Bridge To Home today, as I do every Monday, I got to teach handstands today 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 and followed that up by going straight to an in-person meeting with passionate community leaders about how to help our community together, including how to promote respectful dialogue across the political spectrum and how to bring more funds and awareness to some of our amazing non-profits like Fostering Youth Independence - FYI 🙏🏻💙~ I am proud of the leaders of my new city (my new home 💖) and blessed to learn from them and work and volunteer alongside them 🙏🏻💙~ I’m also lucky to call some of them my friends!

just another Monday of living the dream - teaching yoga + meditation at my city’s homeless shelter, Bridge To Home, after my main job and before getting to my other job. as my good friend once said, life shouldn’t get in the way of our dreams - dreams should get in the way of our life 🥰🙏🏻💙~

I had a great time serving dinner at our homeless shelter in Santa Clarita tonight with my Rotary Satellite club, and will make a proper post thanking them and the shelter tomorrow. At the end of the night, the shelter was going to throw away some leftover food that would no longer be good to eat the next day. So I took the food and brought it to a camp I work with in Canoga Park - neighbors living directly on the street. Some in tents, some in the open air. They were really happy to receive the food, but I learned that a neighbor I saw almost every time I visited that camp had passed away just earlier that week, from a he**in overdose. The first time I met the people who lived right there with him, they asked me for Narcan (the op**te overdose rescue drug). Tarzana treatment center’s needle exchange van used to frequently distribute Narcan to any op**te users who needed/ wanted it, including our homeless neighbors. But due to the drastic increase in he**in use our nation experienced due to the pandemic and subsequent government shutdown, America also experienced a Narcan shortage, and Tarzana stopped handing them out. The paramedics didn’t make it on time with theirs, and that neighbor died on the street this week. I can’t help but wonder if he would still be alive today if I had helped them get the Narcan they asked for. If he would have lived to see another day in which he had a chance to change his life. Please let me know if you’re aware of a way we can help Tarzana obtain more Narcan, and I sincerely appreciate the efforts my friends and I are undergoing to try to expand Tarzana’s services, including their rehab. May your soul rest in peace, neighbor. The light and dark in me see and honor the light and dark in you, namaste 🙏🏻🖤.

Thank you Laura Bloom for giving me a tour of our The Salvation Army Santa Clarita Valley Corps, Center for Worship & Service today, and for discussing the SA’s Canoga Park rehab facility with me 🙏🏻. Thank you for literally filling my SUV with baked goods - between visiting our shelter Bridge To Home and two camps in the wash, they were all gone in less than an hour!
