I’m a big fan of Kasparov, though I think the simpler “how did this happen” explanation is that Russian law enforcement is corrupt, incompetent, and cowardly. As we repeatedly saw in the Soviet Union, their infrastructure for suppressing dissent doesn’t translate into fighting crime, much less engaging in open gunfights with scary armed men. A similar story explains why the Russian armed forces spend so much money and enlist so many mobiks, but have been fought to a stalemate by the poorest country in Europe, standing alone with 1/5th their population.

But his point about the American and NATO betrayal of Ukraine is a good one.

It may be good politics, when your opponents are at 10, to take up 9.9. But it’s bad policy.

The GOP’s alignment with Russia is disgraceful. Any decent person knows Republicans are hateful, stupid, and selfish beyond all reason.

But the Democrats adoption of a “do nothing” approach has created a human catastrophe on a massive scale. It’s not enlightened.

On Holocaust Remembrance Day, we should look around at the Republican Holocaust deniers and N**i apologists, and the “anti-Israel” Holocaust inverters, and recognize the importance of fighting back against both the GOP and the left.

The more we ignore it, the worse it’s going to get.

The Houthis are have imposed virginity checks on young girls, arrested women for posting selfies on Instagram, punish homosexuality by death, protect the institution of slavery (notably for the purpose of ra**ng their victims, and including (thought not exclusively) on the basis of race), and have spent these last few months launching missiles and rockets at as much international trade as they can, and have kidnapped the crews of as many ships as they could.

But, their flag/logo does have the text “curse the Jews” on it, and they are allies of Hamas, a similarly “progressive” movement.

So obviously they’re natural allies to the international left.

The progressive thing to do is torment women, enslave blacks, and murder g**s, apostates, and merchant mariners. At least until we’ve achieved a final solution to the Jewish problem.

Very woke, much intersectional.

The thing about America having to decide between a Mosley in Trump, and a Chamberlain in Biden is that the electorate is worse than either of them.

MAGAs and Republicans want an H, and Trump is giving it his all. But he has to fight through stronger institutions to make it happen than H did. Democrats and leftists want a communist collaborator—sort of a cross between Pétain and Otto Grotewohl (the first PM of East Germany). Say what you will about FDR (the second worst President in history), but at least he wasn’t a vile Quisling snot.

So I’m gonna vote for Biden happily, and hope the MAGA N**is and Democratic “anti-war” communists fail to manifest their desires for 4 more years.

If you wonder, when these people do everything they can to frame Israel as the aggressor, and highlight civilian casualties of Israeli strikes, whether these people would have done the same in WWII (where in fact the Allies didn’t take comparable measures, or do much at all to minimize civilian casualties, unlike Israel), German or Japanese civilian casualties in order to undermine the Allied war effort and promote the Axis, the answer is “yes.”

And probably for the same reason.
