Yes Shea “Taxus” was one of the 13! Shea never met a tax she didn’t like. Giving away taxpayer dollars to favored groups you have ties to is wrong. Shea has received a failing score as a legislator-time to vote her out! Let’s take back 37- vote Jill Douglass,

Started my day with residents of Sun City Summerlin at their candidates forum then met voters at the Rainbow Library. It great to connect with voters who got my information on their door and came to vote to take back 37!

As the granddaughter of a chief of police I back the blue so I’m very
honored to have the endorsement of Sheriff Kevin McMahill.
His leadership on public safety and support for the men and women who protect our communities aligns with what District 37 families expect: safer streets, accountability, and real results—not more of the same from the incumbent who voted for higher theft and drug possession thresholds.

Thank you Las Vegas Review Journal! I’m honored that you recognize the voters deserve better representation. Shea Backus consistently supports bad for Nevada policies. Her silence on democratic socialism, and right to work laws says all you need to know, as does her voting for 74 bad vetoed bills. Nevada Policy gave her a failing 47% scorecard.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal has endorsed Jill Douglass (R) for Nevada State Assembly District 37. 
In its October 14, 2026 editorial “Recommendations in five more Assembly races,” the RJ editorial board wrote that incumbent Democrat Shea Backus is “very knowledgeable” and the vice chair of the Ways and Means Committee (and would likely lead it if re-elected). It noted her cross-party work but criticized her as “too sympathetic to destructive policies.” On specific issues, the board observed that she declined to say whether she would support repealing Nevada’s right-to-work law and that she wants rent-control measures to “protect our seniors.” 
By contrast, the board highlighted Republican challenger Jill Douglass (a businesswoman) for her concerns about government transparency and spending, and for her view that it is unfair “for girls to have to compete against a biological male” in sports. The editorial concluded: “Ms. Backus is a very capable legislator, but too sympathetic to destructive policies. Jill Douglass is our pick.”
