October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

For survivor Kristian, finding her voice was a powerful step toward reclaiming her life. Her message is one worth hearing again: “My voice is my power.”

Domestic violence often follows a cycle of broken promises and repeated harm. Kristian's courage reminds us of the importance of recognizing the warning signs, seeking support, and knowing that help is available.

You are not alone. You deserve to feel safe. Your voice matters.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is committed to supporting survivors through our Southern Nevada Family Justice Center and LVMPD Victim Services Unit.

Today, we’re proud to recognize one of Southeast Area Command’s unsung heroes, Crime Prevention Specialist Cynthia Raichel! 👏💙

For the past 8 years, Cynthia has made a tremendous impact on our Southeast community through her dedication, passion, and commitment to serving others.

From leading the S.T.O.P Coalition to helping connect community members with valuable resources, Cynthia works hand in hand with citizens to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community. She also provides businesses with crime prevention tips and works closely with community partners to build stronger relationships, promote safety, and create a positive impact throughout Southeast Las Vegas.

Cynthia’s hard work, dedication, and behind-the-scenes efforts help make our community a safer, stronger, and more connected place to live, work, and thrive. 💙

HONORING A FALLEN HERO

Today, we unveiled Officer Austin Zade Abdelnabi’s portrait on the Wall of Honor at LVMPD Headquarters, honoring his life, his service, and the ultimate sacrifice he made for the Las Vegas community on August 4, 2026.

Officer Abdelnabi's wife, Sage, and his family joined us for this moment as we added his portrait to a place reserved for those whose service and sacrifice will forever be part of our department’s history. Sheriff Kevin McMahill made a promise to Officer Abdelnabi’s family that we will never forget him. That promise is one we carry with us every day.

These portraits ensure that future generations of LVMPD employees and visitors will know his name and remember the officer who gave everything in service to others.

To Sage and the Abdelnabi family, we stand with you, the community stands with you, and we will never forget.

National Night out with Southeast Area Command brought the community together!

Located at Hollywood Recreation Center, friends and family, officers and community partners enjoyed food, music, dancing, and good conversation. There were also free eye and dental exams and other resources available for those to enjoy.

CURFEW ⏰

Heading downtown? Know the hours before you go, especially for First Friday.

For unaccompanied minors under 18, the downtown enhanced curfew is 9 p.m.–5 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, legal holidays and New Year’s Eve.

This enhanced area applies to the downtown section bordered by Maryland Parkway, Bridger Avenue, Main Street and Stewart Avenue, shown on the map, including the Fremont Street Experience.

Elsewhere in the City of Las Vegas, school-year curfew hours are:
✔️ Sunday–Thursday: 10 p.m.–5 a.m.
✔️ Friday–Saturday: midnight–5 a.m.

During CCSD summer vacation and school holidays, general curfew hours are midnight–5 a.m. Parents and guardians: know your child’s plans and location. Go together. Stay together.

Exceptions include accompaniment by a parent, guardian or adult with legal care, custody and control, or being on lawful business or engaged in a lawful occupation. A city special-event permit must specifically waive LVMC 10.54.015 for the general citywide curfew to apply instead.

Curfew violations may result in a citation, fines, being escorted out of the area, or being detained while a parent or guardian is contacted. Parents and guardians may also face penalties for allowing a child to violate curfew.
