My Fellow Las Vegan’s,
My name is Amy Luciano, and I am running for Mayor of Las Vegas. I’m a proud third generation Las Vegan. My family has deep roots in our community, and I am thankful for the privilege of being able to raise my children in the city I grew up in!
I cherish the memories I have as a young girl watching the landscape change and seeing our community grow. I am running for Mayor because I want to do my part to help our city face the future with the same vigor and opportunity that #UnitedVegasStrong.
My platform is focused on keeping families here in Vegas because, at the end of the day, it’s families that make up our community. What keeps families in Las Vegas? One word: Opportunity.
First, for there to be opportunity, the current issues that are plaguing our City must be addressed. While it has been the current Mayor’s approach to repeatedly neglect the very apparent homeless epidemic, the approach to ignore the problem doesn’t solve the epidemic at hand.
As such, our City should not have to endure another #HomelessScandal, in that Las Vegas placed our #homelessresidents on a #GreyhoundBus to another city such as Sacramento, CA, San Francisco, CA, and/or any other City, all because the homeless were clogging Southern Nevada’s for-profit Emergency Rooms. This approach, has now tarnished our great City’s reputation, and in turn is costing us, as taxpayers, millions of dollars. Once elected as your Mayor, I will use the full power of the Mayor’s office to declare an #emergency as to the #homeless #epidemic to ensure it is immediately and effectively addressed with compassion. To do this, I will reach out to other City’s, States, and Municipalities for their data that has successfully created a time tested blueprint that works for the betterment for Ward1, Ward2, Ward3, Ward4, Ward5, and Ward6, our entire Community and City.
As my constituent, #ShawnMooneyham stated, “City Services “that should be” available to #Ward3, and the Las Vegas area are limited by the City’s budget.” This is of significant concern to me, as there were multiple promises made, that “money collected from certain ordinances and policies would go back into the City’s treasury to fund these City Services.” It is unclear what, if any, of these monies went back into City’s Treasury to fund these crucial City Services for all of our #Wards. As your Mayor, I will work to have our treasury and budget fully analyzed to ensure no money is wasted, forgotten, or tossed aside. This will ensure the City has funding for these crucial #CityServices that must be provided back to our Community. #NoWardLeftBehind.
As a City, we are proud of our reputation as an entertainment and hospitality destination, but we all know that Las Vegas can offer so much more! As your Mayor, I will work to correct the skewed perception of our City, while promoting the expansion of our economy to include new businesses that diversify our industries, and open up new avenues for our talented citizens to show the world what we can do.
We are a Community of hospitality providers and casino workers, but we are also teachers, doctors, nurses, lawyers, engineers, electricians, construction workers, and so many other fields that make for a united and strong city. As your Mayor, I believe in promoting our City as not only a travel destination, but as a community where people can raise a family and feel pride in contributing to building an even better place to live.
What really makes opportunity possible is education, something that our kids need to make their dreams a reality. However, history has shown us, that the current blueprint of the school district does not work, and I say this not only as a Las Vegan, but as a mother as well. To ensure that every child in this City receives the education they need to take on the world and make it their own. Once elected as your Mayor, I will use the full power of the Mayor’s office to declare our stagnant education system an #emergency, to implement an independent analysis of our school district’s budget that is long overdue. Only until then, will we be able begin the process to empower our teachers, improve our classrooms funding, and uplift our education system.
Early voting started March 16, 2019 and continues until March 29, 2019. In order for us to make a change, have all our voices be heard, it is never too late to #vote for me, #AmyLuciano for #Mayor of #LasVegas.
Thank you for what you do to make our community what it is. I need your support and the support of others like you to help make a better Las Vegas!
Vote for me, Amy Luciano, for Mayor of Las Vegas and together, we will work to ensure our Community thrives!
Warmest Regards,
Amy Luciano
