🗳️ EMPOWERING PARENTS THROUGH KNOWLEDGE & CIVIC ENGAGEMENT! 🗳️

I had the wonderful opportunity to speak with the parents of Queen Olive Head Start during their Parent Empowerment Session!

Our discussion focused on Government and the Importance of Voting. It was a great opportunity to share valuable information, encourage civic awareness, and discuss the important role each of us plays in shaping the future of our communities.

Knowledge is power, and an informed community is an empowered community! 💪🏽

A special thank you to Queen Olive Head Start for the invitation and to all the parents who attended and participated in this meaningful discussion.

Together, we can continue building stronger families and stronger communities! ❤️

🏈❤️💛 SUPPORTING OUR GOLDEN TORNADOES — WIN OR LOSE! ❤️💛🏈

🌪️ TORNADO PRIDE RUNS DEEP! 🌪️

Jones County District Five Supervisor Stacy Comegys had the pleasure of sponsoring a pre-game meal for the Laurel High School Golden Tornadoes football team!

It was more than just providing a meal. It was about showing these young men that their hard work, dedication, and perseverance are recognized and appreciated.

🏆 CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR WIN, GOLDEN TORNADOES!

Every season comes with challenges, but true champions are defined by how they respond to adversity. Through the ups and downs, these young men continue to show up, work hard, and represent their school and community.

This victory is a reminder that hard work, determination, and believing in yourself can make all the difference!

To the players and coaching staff, keep your heads high, stay focused, and never stop believing in what you can accomplish. Your community is behind you every step of the way!

❤️💛 WE DON’T JUST SUPPORT YOU WHEN YOU WIN — WE SUPPORT YOU BECAUSE YOU’RE OUR TORNADOES! 🌪️

WHAT AN AMAZING TURNOUT! 👏🏽

We are excited to share the success of our Government Outreach & Informational Program, held Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the Currie Community Center!

What a great evening of learning, connecting, and growing together! We had a wonderful turnout, and valuable information was both shared and received regarding farm loans, land purchases, farm equipment, financial resources, and opportunities available to our farmers and community members.

A special thank you to our knowledgeable presenters, Ryan Collins (NRCS), Andrew Powell (FSA), and Kayla Davis (RD), for taking the time to educate, inform, and answer questions.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to Program Coordinator Lewis Goins, Jones County Conservation Commissioner, for his dedication and efforts in helping make this program a success!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, participated, and helped make this event possible.

Sponsored by the Jones County Soil & Water District and Jones County Beat Five Supervisor Stacy Comegys.

💚 When we come together to share knowledge and resources, we build stronger farms, stronger families, and a stronger community!

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT IN ACTION! 🏛️🤝

Today, I had the opportunity to attend the Mississippi Legislative Black Caucus “Protect Our Voice” Legislative Town Hall right here in Laurel, Mississippi, at the L.T. Ellis Community Center. The town hall was part of the Caucus’s statewide community-engagement efforts and provided an opportunity for residents to hear from leaders and share concerns and ideas.

It was great seeing community members, elected officials, and leaders come together in one room for meaningful conversation about the issues that affect our communities.

Meetings like this provide an important opportunity to listen, learn, ask questions, share concerns, and stay informed about decisions being made at the state level.

Thank you to the Mississippi Legislative Black Caucus for bringing this conversation to Laurel and giving our community an opportunity to be heard.

Your Voice. Your Community. Our Commitment.

I had the opportunity to spend time with the 9th and 10th grade students at Laurel High School discussing the importance of voting 📥and understanding the power of their voices.

Our young people are our future, and it’s important that we begin preparing them now to become informed, involved, and engaged citizens. Voting is more than casting a ballot—it’s understanding the issues, knowing your rights, and recognizing that your voice matters in your community.

Thank you to Laurel High School and Career Coach Sarah Rice for allowing me the opportunity to speak with these students and encourage the next generation to get involved and make a difference.

COMMUNITY NOTICE – HOWARD INDUSTRIES FIRE

We are aware of concerns regarding the fire at Howard Industries today, August 31, 2026.

At this time, no significant air quality issues have been reported. Most of the smoke has lifted into the air and dissipated due to today’s winds. Crews have been working to extinguish the remaining areas of the fire and complete the cleanup process.

As a precaution, anyone who may be sensitive to smoke—especially children, seniors, or individuals with respiratory concerns—should limit exposure if they notice lingering smoke or odors in their area.

We appreciate the efforts of our firefighters, first responders, and emergency personnel who worked diligently to bring the situation under control and keep our community safe.

Please continue to use caution in the area as crews complete their work.
