Last but not least, Congratulations to FF/EMT Tai Huynh on being named Squadsman of the Year.

In just three years with Company 49, Tai has earned his NREMT and firefighter certifications, become an ambulance driver, and grown into one of the station’s top runners.

Beyond answering calls, Tai has become a dedicated mentor to our newer members, helping them navigate EMT and fire classes. He also remains active with recruitment, community events, and the station’s IT group.

Company 49 is proud to recognize Tai for his service, mentorship, and commitment to Company 49. Congratulations, Tai!

LVRS never stops training even on the weekdays, Our Monday Night duty crew had the amazing opportunity to spend time training with our Line gun.

A Line gun is a specialized piece of rescue equipment used to deploy a line across distances or areas that may be difficult or unsafe for rescuers to reach.

Training like this gives our members the opportunity to become familiar with equipment we may not use every day but need to be ready to use when the call comes.

There is always something new to learn and skills to sharpen at LVRS.

Interested in hands on experience, learning new skills and serving?

Come do a ride along with us! Be part of the LVRS Familiy. Visit laurelrescue.org to sign up.

Today, LVRS pauses to remember all the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the Firefighters, Officiers, EMS, Military and countless Americans who responded with courage to the call.

We remember all 343 FDNY Firefighters who answered their final alarm that morning. We rememeber every one of them who ran in while others ran out. As well as the families who lost thier loved ones and those whose lives changed forever.

For those of us who serve today, their courage is a lasting reminder of what it means to Answer the Call: Courage, Sacrifice and Unwavering commiment to one another and our communities.

25 years later, we remember their names, their sacrifice and their legacy.

WE WILL NEVER FORGET. 343 #343

Saturday, 08.22.2026 — The LVRS day shift hit the ground running! In just the first five hours, our crews handled 5 Rescue Engine calls and 3 ambulance calls — serving our community wherever we were needed.

But even on a busy day, there’s still time for one of the best firehouse traditions: sharing a meal together. 👨‍🚒

Between calls, the crew fired up our new Blackstone and gas grill for a summertime lunch. Because at LVRS, it’s more than running calls — it’s teamwork, service, training, friendships, and becoming part of a family.

Come see what life at LVRS is all about. Run calls. Serve your community. Share a meal. Become part of the LVRS family.
