Sunflower Rail-Trails Conservancy Sunflower Rail-Trails Conservancy is a group of volunteers working to help other organizations develop trails in the state of Kansas.

But we need your help with either volunteering and/or donations. Send donations to PO Box 442043, Lawrence, KS 66044 A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Sunflower Rail-Trails Conservancy, Inc. is a group of volunteers working to help other organizations develop trails in the state of Kansas. Our members live in various parts of the state, and have personal involvement with active trail groups. We monitor the availability of railroad abandonments, work to get them rail-banked, and work to find interested local people to begin development. Trails are places where families can enjoy the beautiful outdoors together. They are places where individuals may safely and healthily exercise. Trails, rail-trails particularly, also provide in modern times the original, essential purpose: to link communities together. We believe that an essential element of the health of present and future Kansas generations relies upon opportunities and encouragement towards an active lifestyle; and that an active lifestyle depends upon places where activity can occur.

Prairie Travelers with its Prairie Sunset Trail reports: All our 15 miles have either 1 or 2 families or businesses that have adopted a mile committed to putting 40 hours a year of volunteer work in exchange for a sign that honors their promise.

The Southwind Trail is a 7 mile rail-trail that runs from Iola to Humboldt and connects directly to the 52 mile Prairie Spirit Trail that continues north from Iola to Ottawa where it also connects to the Flint Hills Trail -- providing more than 160 miles of continuous riding.

The Manhattan Linear Park Trail ( 9.4 mi.) has a crushed limestone and concrete treadway. There are views of the Kansas River. The western two miles is a rail-trail. Much of the trail goes on top of a levee. End points: Casement Rd. and Anderson Ave. Trailhead with parking at 1240 Pottawatomie Ave.

Orange County, CA recently had an e-bike buyback day because of soaring injuries among young teens due to reckless riding, excessive speeds and lack of helmets. Class I ($300), Class II ($400), Class III ($600), and e-motos (and e-motorcycles) ($1,000). Personally, I don't think they should buy back Class I e-bikes which have pedals (and no throttle) and do not exceed 20 mph.
