Big day today. It is the local Election Day, and I’m on the ballot for reelection to the city council. Today is extra meaningful because it is first time casting a ballot. This is the first election where all three boys voted. As a parent who is an elected official, that is special.
Please come out to vote today. Equally important, please be an informed voter. Determine what issues are important to you and while difficult, find the candidate who best represents your interests. Finally, thanks to for her public service as an election warden. She is extremely knowledgeable and is a tremendous asset to our city.

Spent some time in the Colonial Heights neighborhood and Crawford St. Many have supported me for 16 years. I am fortunate to count them as neighbors. Glad to begin relationships with some new residents.

Over the weekend I visited neighbors on South St, Wedgewood Rd and Museum Square apartments. Great chats and I enjoy reconnecting with residents. I am often reminded that we have good people living in our city.

Finished the Stadium Projects today with visits on Laurel, Dalton, and N. Parish Rd. I was surprised to learn from Residents that I’m one of the very few local officials who have knocked on their doors asking for their vote. Perhaps that explains their confidence in me and their continued support. .

I was able to finish meeting voters on Shawsheen Road and Shawsheen Court. Costello Park improvements came up in conversations. There was a recent meeting that solicited Resident input. I’m following this discussion and making sure that our residents’ voices are heard. .

Back from vacation and back knocking on doors. Today, Farnham Street. The most discussed topics were noise and trash. It’s a problem throughout the city, especially the noise. I hear you loud and clear and will continue to make those priority issues. I appreciate the time these neighbors gave me. I will work my best to reward their confidence in me.

I enjoyed meeting Boxford Street residents. It appears that many residents are on vacation, and in that respect, Lawrence hasn’t changed. In what has become a pattern, I received many requests. Some are harder to fullfill, e.g. sidewalk repairs, and some are easier e.g. caution signs. Each request is important, so while I do not promise a result, I do give my assurance to advocate and make the request to the proper city agency. .

I’m not going to lie, it was a long hot day on Cambridge Street and Dorchester Street. But the reward was meeting some familiar faces and connecting with new residents. To be an effective Representative, I need to establish and re-establish the relationships with the people I serve. I never take their confidence in me for granted.
