About 20 Douglas County Public Works employees participated in the APWA Mid-America Equipment Expo, fondly called the Rodeo by our crew, last week at the New Century Airport in Gardner.

The Expo brings together employees from across the Midwest to take classes, compete and get hands-on experience with new equipment.

Congratulations to Chris King, Jerry Richter, Kyle French and Justin Wiscombe for placing in the competitions! Great work!

We’re proud to support Baldwin High School in the “Friday Night 5G Lights” challenge! The Bulldogs are a Midwest finalist and one of 40 schools competing to advance to the next round, where they could win $250,000.

The top four schools will then compete for the $1 million grand prize.

Winning funds would help move home games from a rented facility to Baldwin’s own campus, adding stadium lights, turf and competition-ready facilities for student athletes, band, cheer and youth programs.

You can vote once a day through Sunday, Oct. 25, at https://www.t-mobile.com/brand/friday-night-5g-lights?region=midwest
