🚨🔥 BUILDING FIRE — CEDARHURST 🔥🚨
At approximately 8:39 AM, the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department was dispatched for a reported kitchen fire at Central Perk Cafe, 105 Cedarhurst Avenue in Cedarhurst.
Companies arrived within one minute and were immediately met with a working fire in the setback kitchen with possible extension.
Firefighters quickly went to work. The first-due line was stretched and placed into operation, initiating an aggressive interior attack while additional companies simultaneously conducted primary searches, evacuations, ventilation, and checks for extension.
The main body of fire was contained to the kitchen area. Firefighters also located minor extension into the building’s fire suppression ductwork, which extended toward the rear of the structure.
A total of three handlines were stretched, with two placed into operation, as crews worked to knock down the fire and prevent further extension throughout the building.
Through the coordinated efforts of the operating companies, the fire was brought under control in just under one hour.
The incident was operated under the command of Assistant Chief Beilinson.
🚒 Mutual aid companies responded from:
Inwood • Woodmere • Hewlett • Valley Stream • Lynbrook • Long Beach • Atlantic Beach Rescue • Elmont • Lakeview • R.L. Hatzolah
The assistance of our neighboring departments and agencies was instrumental in allowing operations to continue while additional companies remained available to protect the surrounding communities.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal’s Office is conducting a routine investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
Great work by all companies operating at this incident. The rapid arrival, immediate line placement, aggressive interior attack, coordinated searches, and strong mutual-aid response helped keep this fire contained to the area of origin and prevented further extension. 🚒🔥
