🚒 TWO DEPARTMENTS. ONE COMMUNITY. ONE MISSION. 🚒

Come out and see the Lawrenceburg Fire Department and Anderson County Fire Protection District at the Anderson County Burgoo Festival!

📍 Where: Right in the heart of downtown Lawrenceburg, behind the old WesBanco building!

We’re proud to stand side by side today, representing both departments and the community we are honored to serve.

Different departments, different patches, but the same commitment to protecting our neighbors, educating the public, and being there when our community needs us most.

Fire service is about more than responding to emergencies. It’s about building relationships, teaching fire safety, answering questions, and making sure the people we serve know the firefighters who are there for them.

Whether we’re working together on an emergency scene or spending the day talking with families at a community event, the name on our trucks may be different, but our mission is the same.

🚒 Stop by, meet your local firefighters, check out the fire apparatus, ask questions, and learn more about fire safety!

We’re especially looking forward to seeing the kids and helping inspire the next generation of firefighters.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter which department’s patch we wear. What matters is the community we serve and the people standing beside us.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the Burgoo Festival!

🌧️ WEATHER ALERT FOR LAWRENCEBURG AND ANDERSON COUNTY 🌧️

After a beautiful day today with temperatures approaching record highs, Mother Nature is preparing to give us quite a change for Wednesday!

The Lawrenceburg Fire Department wants everyone in Lawrenceburg and Anderson County to be aware of the potential for heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding on Wednesday, October 14.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, multiple rounds of rain are expected to move into Central Kentucky around midday Wednesday, with additional rainfall possible throughout the afternoon and evening.

⚠️ WHAT CAN WE EXPECT?

Our area is currently included in a Level 2 of 4, Slight Risk for excessive rainfall.

Most locations across the region are expected to receive between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain. Some isolated locations could receive 2 to 4 inches, particularly farther west.

The biggest concern isn't necessarily how much rain falls across the entire county, but how much could fall in one area.

Multiple bands of rain may repeatedly move over the same locations, potentially causing water to rise quickly in low lying areas, creeks, and roadways.

🚒 WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR LAWRENCEBURG AND ANDERSON COUNTY?

While widespread flooding is not currently anticipated, localized flash flooding is possible, especially in areas with poor drainage or a history of flooding.

Please keep the following in mind as you plan for Wednesday.

✅ Stay aware of changing weather conditions, particularly Wednesday afternoon and evening.

✅ Allow extra time for travel, especially during the afternoon commute.

✅ Never attempt to drive through water covering a roadway. You cannot always tell how deep the water is or whether the road beneath it has been damaged.

✅ Keep children and pets away from swollen creeks, drainage ditches, and rapidly moving water.

✅ Monitor weather alerts from the National Weather Service and local emergency officials.

The exact timing and location of the heaviest rainfall remain uncertain. A slight shift in the path of these rain bands could significantly affect how much rain our community receives.

The Lawrenceburg Fire Department will continue monitoring conditions as this system approaches.

Enjoy the beautiful weather today, but please be prepared for a very different day tomorrow.

Stay safe, Lawrenceburg and Anderson County!

Kentucky’s Fall Forest Fire Hazard Season is now in effect across Lawrenceburg and the rest of Kentucky, and runs from October 1 through December 15.

The Lawrenceburg Fire Department would like to remind our community and everyone across the Commonwealth that during this period, outdoor burning is prohibited between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. when the fire is located in or within 150 feet of woodland or brushland.

As leaves begin to fall and vegetation dries out, even a small outdoor fire can spread quickly. If you plan to burn, know the regulations, check weather and wind conditions before starting, and never leave a fire unattended.

Whether you are here in Lawrenceburg or anywhere else in Kentucky, please burn responsibly. Make sure your fire is completely extinguished before leaving the area. A little extra caution can prevent a small fire from becoming a much larger problem.

Late yesterday evening, the Lawrenceburg Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire on East Woodford Street. Crews worked through the night under difficult conditions, including electrical hazards, and fire extending into the attic. Firefighters remained on scene for several hours conducting suppression, overhaul, and fire watch operations.

We extend a special thank you to the Anderson Co. Fire Protection District for providing additional personnel, apparatus, tanker support, and water supply operations throughout the incident.

We also sincerely thank the Versailles Fire Department. Versailles initially provided emergency coverage for Lawrenceburg and Anderson County before responding to the scene to assist our crews.

Thank you to the Salvisa Fire Dept for assuming emergency coverage responsibilities, which allowed Versailles personnel to assist at the fire. This coordinated mutual aid ensured that emergency services remained available throughout the community.

We also appreciate the support provided by Anderson County EMS, the Lawrenceburg Police Department, the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, Kentucky Utilities, Lawrenceburg Water, the American Red Cross, and everyone who assisted with traffic control, firefighter rehabilitation, utility operations, and support for the displaced residents.

This response showed the value of strong cooperation among our local and neighboring agencies. We are grateful to every responder who worked through the night to protect the residents and our community.

The National Weather Service in Louisville expects a stretch of very hot, humid weather through the end of the week.

High temperatures will reach the mid to upper 90s, with dew points around 70 degrees. Heat index values may reach 100 to 105 degrees during the afternoon and early evening. A Heat Advisory is in effect through at least Thursday for portions of the region, especially along and west of I 65.

Lawrenceburg Fire Department asks everyone to take heat safety seriously.

Drink water before you become thirsty.

Limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.

Take frequent breaks in air conditioning or shade.

Check on older adults, children, neighbors, and others who may be more vulnerable to heat.

Never leave children or pets inside a parked vehicle.

If you must be outside, try to schedule activity for earlier in the morning or later in the evening.

The National Weather Service recommends staying hydrated and taking breaks in air conditioning or shade during this period of hot weather.

Please take care of yourself, your family, and your neighbors as these hot conditions continue.

Members from multiple local departments came together to participate in the 2026 Anderson County 9/11 Memorial Walk. A huge thank you to Bri Ennis and the Anderson Co. Fire Protection District for organizing this.

Participants completed a three mile walk in remembrance of the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

Each mile carried a special meaning, honoring the 343 firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers, and 8 EMTs and paramedics who lost their lives during the attacks on the World Trade Center.

Twenty five years later, we continue to remember their courage, their service, and their sacrifice.

We also remember the thousands of others who lost their lives that day, along with the many first responders who later died from illnesses connected to their service at Ground Zero.

We will never forget.
