After seeing uncharacteristically dry winters the past few years in Utah, we're expected to receive more snow this coming winter. There's many cost efficient (or even free) ways to prep your home for winter to stay warm, avoid costly repairs and save on bills!
Heres's how to prep your house BEFORE winter:
🌨️ Make sure to clean your house's gutters so debris won't block the water's exit path away from your roof should it rain or snow.
🌨️ Invest in gutter extensions if yours end close to the house. This can help the water run off further away from the foundation and decrease the risk of erosion and mold.
🌨️ Check your fireplace to make sure your vents are properly opened so the smoke can exit through the chimney. If the vents are accidentally left closed you'll have a house full of smoke!
🌨️ Remove leaves, dirt, and debris from around outdoor HVAC components, and test the heat and filter early so if there's a problem you can fix it before the weather becomes cold.
Taking these simple steps now can save you from bigger (and more expensive) problems this winter!
