๐Ÿ”ฅ Our Final Fire Prevention Week Tip! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Todayโ€™s focus is HOVERBOARD SAFETY! ๐Ÿ›ดโšก๐Ÿ”ฅ

Hoverboards and other devices powered by lithium-ion batteries can pose a serious fire risk if they are damaged, improperly charged, or used incorrectly.

๐Ÿ”Œ Use only the charger that came with the device or one approved by the manufacturer.

๐Ÿ‘€ Never leave a hoverboard charging unattended or charge it while you are sleeping.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Never charge or store it near beds, couches, or other items that can burn.

๐Ÿšซ Stop using the device if the battery becomes damaged, swollen, unusually hot, or starts making unusual noises or smells.

๐Ÿ  Charge on a hard, flat surface away from exits and combustible materials.

โš ๏ธ Use products that are safety certified and follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Fire Prevention Week may be coming to an end, but fire safety is important all year long!

A big thank-you to everyone who followed along with our daily fire prevention tips. Stay safe, stay alert, and help us prevent fires before they happen! ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ

Todayโ€™s Fire Prevention Tip: HALLOWEEN SAFETY! ๐Ÿ‘ป๐Ÿ”ฅ

As you head out for trick-or-treating, keep these safety tips in mind:

๐Ÿ”ฆ Carry a flashlight or use glow sticks to help you be seen.

๐Ÿšถ Use sidewalks and crosswalks and watch for vehicles.

๐Ÿ‘ป Choose costumes that fit properly and avoid long or loose clothing that could cause trips or falls.

๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ Avoid open flames with costumes and decorations whenever possible. Use battery-powered candles or glow sticks instead.

๐Ÿ  Keep decorations away from candles, heaters, and other heat sources.

๐Ÿ‘€ Parents and adultsโ€”keep an eye on little ghosts and goblins while theyโ€™re out celebrating.

๐ŸŽƒ Have fun, stay safe, and watch for firefighters and emergency vehicles while trick-or-treating!

From your friends at Le Mars Fire Rescue โ€” Have a safe and Happy Halloween! ๐Ÿš’๐ŸŽƒ

Todayโ€™s Fire Prevention Tip: SPACE HEATER SAFETY! ๐ŸŒก๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ

As the temperatures drop, space heaters can help keep us warmโ€”but they can also be a serious fire hazard if not used properly.

๐Ÿ›‘ Keep space heaters at least 3 feet away from anything that can burn, including furniture, bedding, curtains, and clothing.

๐Ÿ”Œ Plug space heaters directly into a wall outlet. Avoid using extension cords or power strips.

๐Ÿ‘€ Never leave a space heater unattended and turn it off when you leave the room or go to bed.

๐Ÿ  Place heaters on a solid, level surface where they cannot be easily knocked over.

๐Ÿพ Keep children and pets away from space heaters.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Choose a heater with built-in safety features, such as tip-over and overheat protection.

Stay warm, but stay safe! A few simple precautions can help prevent a space heater from becoming a home fire.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Fire Prevention Week Continues! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Todayโ€™s focus is COOKING SAFETY! ๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Cooking is one of the leading causes of home fires. A few simple habits can help keep you, your family, and your home safe:

๐Ÿ‘€ Stay in the kitchen when cooking. Never leave cooking unattended.
๐Ÿงฏ Keep a lid nearby when frying or cooking with oil.
๐Ÿšซ Never use water on a grease fire!
๐Ÿงน Keep anything that can burn away from the stovetop.
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ Keep children and pets at least 3 feet away from the cooking area.
โฐ Use a timer to help remind you when something is cooking.

If a cooking fire starts and you can't safely put it out, GET OUT, STAY OUT, and CALL 911!

๐Ÿ”ฅ Cook with caution. Prevent cooking fires. Keep your family safe!
