đź’ś STAND UP. STAND STRONG. BE A SURVIVOR. đź’ś

Throughout Russell County, you may have noticed these purple Silent Witnesses appearing in our community. Each one represents the reality of domestic violence and serves as a powerful reminder that behind every statistic is a real person, a real story, and a life that matters.

In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Russell County Victim Witness Program is honored to collaborate with the Russell County Sheriff’s Office to raise awareness, remember lives lost to domestic violence, and stand in support of survivors.

In recognition of National Police Week, our office proudly wore blue to honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of the law enforcement officers who protect and serve our communities each day.

We are grateful for the dedication of the officers who work tirelessly for the public’s safety and we are honored to work alongside them on a daily basis.

This week, and every week, we extend our sincere appreciation to law enforcement and we especially remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Today, the Russell County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and the Russell County Victim Witness Assistance Program staff wore black and red in recognition of Homicide Awareness as we close out National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

We remember and honor the lives lost to violence, and we stand with the families and loved ones who continue to carry that loss every day. Their stories matter, and their voices deserve to be heard.

As a community, we can support one another through compassion, awareness, and a commitment to justice. Together, we remember, we support, and we advocate.

Today, the Russell County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and the Russell County Victim Witness Assistance Program staff proudly wore teal in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

Sexual violence impacts millions of individuals each year, affecting people of all ages, backgrounds, and communities. Today, we stand with survivors, honor their strength, and support their healing.

As a community, we can make a difference by listening, believing, and advocating for those affected. If you or someone you know needs support, please reach out — you are not alone.

Today, the Russell County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office and the Russell County Victim Witness Assistance Program staff proudly wore red in support of DUI Awareness for National Crime Victims' Rights Week.

Every 39 minutes, one person is killed in a crash involving an alcohol-impaired driver in the United States — approximately 37 lives lost every day.

We honor the victims, support the survivors, and stand with the families whose lives have been forever changed. As a community, we all play a role in preventing impaired driving.
Please make safe choices and help keep our roads safe for everyone.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Today, our team is wearing blue to show our support for survivors and to help bring attention to the reality of child abuse and neglect.

We remain dedicated to protecting the most vulnerable in our community and to promoting prevention through awareness, education, and advocacy.

Join us in raising awareness—because every child deserves a childhood filled with safety, love, and support.
