We’re looking for 20-25 volunteers to come help us sort and organize our current donations so that we can free up space at our facilities to prepare for the upcoming holidays. Bring a group of friends and have fun while serving. We will provide everything, including chairs for anyone who would rather sit than stand. Come for the entire time or for whatever amount of time you have available. All help is appreciated!

Fall is here, and you may have noticed an uptick in our seasonal visitors. Yes, the deer are back.

Every October and November, bucks get bolder during mating season, crossing roads with absolutely no fear and no regard for your freshly washed car. And while we admire their confidence, it does contribute to more than 14,000 deer-vehicle collisions each year in Indiana.

A couple of tips to keep in mind: Deer rarely travel solo. Spot one and assume its friends are nearby. Stay alert, buckle up, and use your high beams when it's safe.

If you see a deer, slow down and tap the horn.

And if a collision seems unavoidable, brake in your lane. Never swerve. It's far safer to hit the deer than to veer off the road or into oncoming traffic.

We—and the deers—thank you for your vigilance.
