Oregon Veterans' Home - Lebanon The Edward C. Allworth Oregon Veterans' Home - The place where honor lives. Contact information: http://www.lebanon.oregonveteranshomes.com/contact/

Allworth Veterans’ Home is already changing the perception of Veterans' Homes across the nation. Organized around the idea of an intentional community or neighborhood, this new veterans' home will offer residents a way to maximize normal living environments and routines, provides autonomy, a sense of community, and quality of life. The communities consist of three houses per neighborhood and each house will accommodate up to 14 residents. The houses are accessible and adaptive, designed for ease of movement and features open kitchens, dining areas where family style meals are served, a living room with a fire place, private bedrooms and baths. The Campus will provide space for 154 individuals who require long-term skilled nursing care as well as rehabilitation services in a true home-like setting with routine activities and social interaction that decreases social isolation. The Home sits on 12 acres adjacent to the Samaritan Health Sciences Campus in Lebanon.

CONGRATULATIONS to all our CNA graduates! Last Friday we had a Graduation Ceremony for the six graduates in our fifth class this year. We are proud of each of our graduates and are grateful we are able to offer a tuition-free program. We have had 33 graduates so far this year and have one more class starting in November.

While visiting the Evergreen Aviation Museum is one of more popular outings for OVHL Veteran Residents, each time we attend, the experiences are quite different. This past week, Vets reminisced deeply regarding their service experiences. Staff helped Veterans throughout the museum, hearing comments such as "I guarded this plane during my service", and "I flew these helicopters in Vietnam"... Veterans met with volunteers who were also Veterans and spoke of their pasts together, mulling over life experiences and finding comradery. It's one thing to know the man (or woman), it's another thing to know their stories and how they became who there are today. This is what drives us here at OVHL; The Place Where Honor Lives.

For July, the Oregon Elks brought us yummy steaks and sausages that they grilled up for us with all the sides and a dessert paradise as far as the eye could see! Thank you to the Oregon Elks for bringing smiles and nourishment to our OVHL team! Shout out to Tuesday String Band who provided the music! What a perfect afternoon...

Take me out to the ball game! Veteran Residents recently got to try out a new venue for watching some baseball games; The Eugene Emeralds hosted us and boy did they spoil our Vets and staff so much that we booked several more games soon thereafter! Good food, great atmosphere, honorable service, and our Recreation Assistant Aylisha won the lip-syncing contest! OVHL can't wait for more baseball with the Eugene Emeralds!
